\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00bfQu\u00e9 mayor alegr\u00eda puede haber que sufrir alguna cruz y saber que abraz\u00e1ndola damos gusto a Dios? Santa Mar\u00eda Magdalena de Pazzi sent\u00eda tal consuelo en sufrir lo que le viniera por voluntad de Dios, que sol\u00eda perderse en un \u00e9xtasis de amor divino.<\/p>

Meditaci\u00f3n I:
<\/b>\u00a0 \u00a0 Quien est\u00e1 unido a la voluntad de Dios, goza de una paz perpetua, incluso en este mundo: Lo que le suceda al justo, no lo entristecer\u00e1<\/em> \u2014 (Prov. xii. 21); and it must be so, because a soul cannot have more perfect content than to see its every wish fulfilled; and he who wills nothing but what God wills, has all that he wishes, since whatever happens must be by the will of God.\u00a0 Solinus says, that when resigned souls receive a humiliation, they will it; if they suffer poverty, they wish to be poor; in short, they will whatsoever happens, and therefore they lead a happy life.\u00a0 Be the weather cold or hot, let the rain or the storm come, he who is united to God’s will says: “I wish for this cold or heat (etc.), because God so wills it.”\u00a0 If loss or persecution, sickness or death, should come, he still says: “I am willing to be poor, persecuted, sick or even to die, because such is the will of God.”\u00a0 He who rests on the Divine will, and is pleased with whatsoever God may do, is as if he were placed above the clouds, and saw tempests raging below, but remained unhurt and undisturbed by them.\u00a0 This is the peace which, as the Apostle says, sobrepasa todo entendimiento<\/em> \u2014 (Phil. iv. 7); which exceeds all the delights of the world, and is so steadfast as to admit of no change:\u00a0 El santo permanece en la sabidur\u00eda como el sol, pero el necio se transforma como la luna.<\/em>. \u2014 (Ecclus. xxvii. 12).\u00a0 The fool, that is, the sinner, changes like the moon, which increases today, and wanes tomorrow; one day he laughs, the next he weeps; at one time he is mild and cheerful, at another violent and sad; for he changes according as pleasing or adverse things happen to him.\u00a0 But the just man is like the sun, even and uniform in his tranquillity whatever may happen; for his peace rests in conformity with the will of God: Y en la tierra paz a los hombres de buena voluntad<\/em>. \u2014 (Luke ii. 14).\u00a0 We cannot help feeling some sting of pain from adversity in the inferior part of our souls; but peace will always reign in the superior part, when our will is united to that of God: Tu alegr\u00eda nadie te la quitar\u00e1<\/em>. \u2014 (John xvi. 22).\u00a0 How foolish are those who resist God’s will, since what He appoints must nevertheless be fulfilled!\u00a0 \u00bfQui\u00e9n se resiste a su voluntad?<\/em> \u2014 (Rom. ix. 19).\u00a0 Those poor creatures must therefore endure their cross, but without fruit, and without peace: \u00bfQui\u00e9n le ha resistido y ha tenido paz?<\/em> \u2014 (Job ix. 4).
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Mi Rey Divino, mi amado Redentor, ven, y desde hoy reina solo en mi alma: toma completa posesi\u00f3n de mi voluntad para que no desee ni quiera nada sino lo que T\u00fa quieras. En todo lo que me suceda, dir\u00e9 siempre: Dios m\u00edo, s\u00f3lo quiero lo que T\u00fa quieres. Que se haga siempre en m\u00ed tu voluntad.\u00a0 \u00a1H\u00e1gase tu voluntad!<\/em><\/p>

Meditaci\u00f3n II:
<\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0And what else does God will but our good?\u00a0 For this is the will of God, your sanctification<\/em>. \u2014 (1 Thess. iv. 3).\u00a0 He wishes to see us holy by being content in this life, and happy in the next.\u00a0 Let us understand that all the crosses which come to us from God work together unto good<\/em>. \u2014 (Rom. viii. 28).\u00a0 Even punishments are not sent in this life for our destruction, but that we may amend, and thus gain eternal happiness: Let us believe that these scourges of the Lord . . . have happened for our amendment, and not for our destruction.<\/em> \u2014 (Judith viii. 27).\u00a0 God so loves us, that He not only wishes, but eagerly desires, the salvation of each one among us: The Lord is careful for me<\/em>. \u2014 (Ps. xxxix. 18).\u00a0 He that spared not even his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how hath he not also with him given us all things?<\/em> \u2014 (Rom. viii. 32).\u00a0 Let us, then, abandon ourselves always into the hands of the God Who ever desires our good while we are in this life, casting all your care upon him, for he hath care of you<\/em>. \u2014 (1 Pet. v. 7).\u00a0 “Think of Me,” said our Lord to St. Catherine of Sienna, “and I will always think of you.”\u00a0 \u00a0Let us say with the sacred Spouse: I to my beloved, and my beloved to me<\/em>. \u2014 (Cant. vi. 2).\u00a0 My Beloved thinks of what is good for me, and I will think of nothing but of pleasing Him, and uniting myself to His holy will.\u00a0 And we should never pray, as the holy Abbot Nilus tells us, that God would do what we wish, but that we may do what He wills.
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0He who always does this will lead a happy life, and die a holy death; he who expires completely resigned to the Divine will, leaves a moral certainty of his salvation.
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0O Jesus, my Redeemer, Thou didst give up Thy life in agony on the Cross, that Thou mightest be the cause of my salvation; have pity on me, then, and save me; do not suffer a soul which Thou didst redeem with such anguish and such love to hate Thee for ever in hell.\u00a0 Thou canst do no more to make me love Thee, and Thou didst give me to understand this when, before Thou didst expire on Calvary, Thou didst utter those loving words: Se consuma<\/em>. \u2014 (John xix. 30).\u00a0 But how have I acknowledged Thy love?\u00a0 For the past, I may truly say that I have done nothing but displease Thee, and force Thee to hate me.\u00a0 I thank Thee for having borne with me with so much patience, and for now giving me time to repair my ingratitude, and to love Thee before I die.\u00a0 Yes, I wish to love Thee, and do whatever is pleasing to Thee.\u00a0 I give Thee my will, my liberty, all that I have.\u00a0 I sacrifice to Thee from this moment my life, and accept that death which Thou shalt send me, with all the pains and circumstances which may accompany it.\u00a0 I unite this sacrifice with that great sacrifice which Thou, my Jesus, didst offer for me upon the Cross.\u00a0 I desire to die, to fulfil Thy will.\u00a0 Grant me, I beseech Thee, by the merits of Thy Passion, the grace to live always in resignation to the disposition of Thy providence; and when death arrives, grant that I may embrace it with the same submission to Thy good pleasure.\u00a0 I wish to die, my Jesus, in order to please Thee.\u00a0 I desire to die, saying: Thy will be done<\/em>.\u00a0 Thus didst thou die, O Mary, my Mother; obtain for me the grace that I also may so die.<\/p>

Meditaci\u00f3n matutina:\u00a0 LA VOLUNTAD DE DIOS DE SALVAR A TODOS LOS HOMBRES<\/em><\/b><\/p>

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Nuestro santo Redentor nos ha rescatado de la muerte eterna al precio de su propia Sangre, y no quiere ver perdidas estas almas nuestras que tanto le han costado. Cuando ve almas que le obligan por sus pecados a condenarlas al infierno, como si llorara de compasi\u00f3n por ellas y dijera: \u00bfPor qu\u00e9 morir\u00e9is, casa de Israel? \u00a1Volved y vivid!<\/em> - (Ezech. xviii., 31). Hijos m\u00edos, \u00bfpor qu\u00e9 os destru\u00eds y conden\u00e1is cuando Yo he muerto en una Cruz para salvaros? Volved a M\u00ed como penitentes, y Yo os devolver\u00e9 la vida que hab\u00e9is perdido.<\/p>

Meditaci\u00f3n I:
<\/b>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0El Ap\u00f3stol San Pablo ense\u00f1a que Dios quiere la salvaci\u00f3n de todos: \u00c9l har\u00e1 que todos los hombres se salven<\/em>. - (1 Tim. ii., 4). Y San Pedro escribe: El Se\u00f1or act\u00faa con paciencia por vosotros, no queriendo que ninguno perezca, sino que todos vuelvan a la penitencia<\/em>. - (2 Pedro iii., 9). Con este fin, el Hijo de Dios baj\u00f3 del Cielo, se hizo Hombre, pas\u00f3 treinta y tres a\u00f1os de trabajos y sufrimientos, y finalmente derram\u00f3 su Sangre y entreg\u00f3 su vida por nuestra salvaci\u00f3n. \u00bfY nosotros perderemos nuestra salvaci\u00f3n?
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0T\u00fa, mi Salvador, gastaste toda tu vida en asegurar mi salvaci\u00f3n, \u00bfy en qu\u00e9 he gastado yo tantos a\u00f1os de mi vida? \u00bfQu\u00e9 fruto has cosechado hasta ahora de m\u00ed? He merecido ser cortado y arrojado al infierno. Pero T\u00fa no quieres la muerte del pecador, sino que se convierta y viva<\/em>. - (Ezech. xxxiii., 11). S\u00ed, oh Dios, lo dejo todo y me vuelvo a Ti. Te amo y, porque Te amo, me arrepiento de haberte ofendido. Ac\u00e9ptame y no permitas que te abandone m\u00e1s.
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a1Cu\u00e1nto no hicieron los santos para asegurar su salvaci\u00f3n eterna! \u00a1Cu\u00e1ntos nobles y reyes han abandonado sus reinos y haciendas para encerrarse en claustros! \u00a1Cu\u00e1ntos j\u00f3venes abandonaron su patria y sus amigos para morar en cuevas y desiertos! Y cu\u00e1ntos m\u00e1rtires han entregado sus vidas bajo las torturas m\u00e1s crueles. \u00bfPor qu\u00e9? - Para salvar sus almas. \u00bfY qu\u00e9 hemos hecho nosotros?
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a1Ay de m\u00ed, que, aunque s\u00e9 que la muerte est\u00e1 cerca, no pienso en ella! No, Dios m\u00edo, ya no vivir\u00e9 alejado de Ti. \u00bfPor qu\u00e9 me demoro? \u00bfEs para que la muerte me alcance en el miserable estado en que me encuentro ahora? No, Dios m\u00edo, ay\u00fadame a prepararme para la muerte.<\/p>

Dios est\u00e1 a la puerta de nuestro coraz\u00f3n y llama para que le abramos: He aqu\u00ed que estoy a la puerta y llamo<\/em>. - (Apoc. iii., 20). Estas son las palabras de un padre, dice un autor piadoso, que va en busca de su hijo perdido. \u00a1Oh, la inmensa compasi\u00f3n de nuestro Dios! Ad\u00e1n peca, da la espalda a Dios; y, sin embargo, Dios no lo abandona, sino que lo sigue y lo llama: Ad\u00e1n, \u00bfd\u00f3nde est\u00e1s?<\/em>\u00a0 As\u00ed, alma m\u00eda, ha obrado Dios frecuentemente contigo; t\u00fa le has abandonado por el pecado; pero \u00c9l no vacil\u00f3 en acercarse a ti, y en llamarte por muchas luces interiores, por remordimientos de conciencia, y por sus santas inspiraciones; todo lo cual fue efecto de su compasi\u00f3n y amor.

Meditaci\u00f3n matutina:\u00a0 EL ALEJAMIENTO DE DIOS POR EL PECADO<\/em><\/strong><\/b><\/p>

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00bfQui\u00e9n es el Se\u00f1or para que yo oiga su voz? No conozco al Se\u00f1or<\/em>. - (\u00c9xo. v., 2). As\u00ed habla el pecador. \u00a1Se\u00f1or, no Te reconozco! \u00a1Har\u00e9 lo que me plazca! Insulta a Dios en Su cara y le da la espalda. Este alejamiento de Dios es pecado mortal.<\/p>

Meditaci\u00f3n I:
<\/b>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0San Agust\u00edn y Santo Tom\u00e1s definen el pecado mortal como un alejamiento de Dios: es decir, dar la espalda a Dios, dejar al Creador por la criatura. \u00bfQu\u00e9 castigo merecer\u00eda aquel s\u00fabdito que, mientras su rey le daba una orden, le volviera despectivamente la espalda para ir a transgredir sus \u00f3rdenes? Eso es lo que hace el pecador; y es castigado en el infierno con la pena de la p\u00e9rdida, es decir, la p\u00e9rdida de Dios, castigo ricamente merecido por aquel que en esta vida da la espalda a su Bien Soberano.
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Dios m\u00edo, con frecuencia te he dado la espalda; pero veo que no me has abandonado todav\u00eda; veo que te acercas a m\u00ed, y que, invit\u00e1ndome al arrepentimiento, me ofreces tu perd\u00f3n. Estoy arrepentido por encima de todo mal por haberte ofendido, ten piedad de m\u00ed.
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Me has abandonado, dice el Se\u00f1or; has retrocedido<\/em>. - (Jer. xv., 6). Dios se queja y dice: Alma ingrata, \u00a1me has abandonado! Nunca te hubiera abandonado si antes no me hubieras dado la espalda: has retrocedido<\/em>. Oh Dios, \u00a1con qu\u00e9 consternaci\u00f3n llenar\u00e1n estas palabras el alma del pecador cuando vaya a ser juzgado ante Tu divino tribunal!
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Me las haces o\u00edr ahora, oh Salvador m\u00edo, no para condenarme, sino para que me arrepienta de las ofensas que Te he hecho. S\u00ed, oh Jes\u00fas, me arrepiento sinceramente de todos los disgustos que Te he causado. Por mi propia miserable gratificaci\u00f3n Te he abandonado, mi Dios, mi Soberano, Infinito Bien. Pero m\u00edrame como un penitente vuelto a Ti; no me rechaces.<\/p>

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0As\u00ed habla el Profeta Real de los pecadores: Tentaron y provocaron al Dios alt\u00edsimo<\/em>. - (Sal. lxxvii., 65). Dios no es capaz de afligirse; pero si le fuera posible afligirse, cada pecado que los hombres cometen lo afligir\u00eda profundamente. <\/b>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Toda alma que ama a Dios es amada a su vez por \u00c9l, y Dios habita dentro de esa alma, y no la abandona hasta que es expulsado por el pecado. \"No abandona si no es abandonado\", dice el Concilio de Trento. Cuando un alma consiente deliberadamente en el pecado mortal, expulsa a Dios y, por as\u00ed decirlo, le dice: D\u00e9jame, Se\u00f1or, porque no quiero poseerte m\u00e1s. Los imp\u00edos han dicho a Dios: Ap\u00e1rtate de nosotros<\/em>. - (Job xxi., 14).
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Oh Dios m\u00edo, he tenido entonces la audacia, cuando comet\u00eda pecado, de expulsarte de mi alma y de desear no tenerte m\u00e1s conmigo. Pero T\u00fa no quieres que desespere, sino que me arrepienta y Te ame. S\u00ed, Jes\u00fas m\u00edo, me arrepiento de haberte ofendido y te amo sobre todas las cosas.
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0El pecador debe ser consciente de que Dios no puede habitar en un alma junto con el pecado. Por tanto, cuando el pecado entra en el alma, Dios debe alejarse de ella. De modo que el pecador, al admitir el pecado, dice a Dios: Ya que no puedes permanecer m\u00e1s tiempo conmigo, a menos que renuncie al pecado, ap\u00e1rtate de m\u00ed; es mejor perderte a Ti que el placer de cometer pecado. Al mismo tiempo que el alma expulsa a Dios, da posesi\u00f3n al demonio. As\u00ed expulsa el pecador a su Dios que le ama, y se hace esclavo de un tirano que le odia.

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Contemplando la grandeza y majestad de Dios, David grit\u00f3: Se\u00f1or, \u00bfqui\u00e9n como t\u00fa?<\/em>\u00a0 Pero Dios, viendo que los pecadores comparan y prefieren una miserable gratificaci\u00f3n a Su amistad, exclama: \u00bfA qui\u00e9n me hab\u00e9is comparado o igualado?<\/em>\u00a0 El pecador declara que su pasi\u00f3n, su vanidad, su placer, tienen m\u00e1s valor que la amistad de Dios.\u00a0 Me violaron entre mi gente, por un pu\u00f1ado de cebada y un trozo de pan<\/em>. - (Ezech. xiii., 19).<\/p>

Meditaci\u00f3n I:
<\/b>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0El pecador desprecia a Dios.\u00a0 Por la transgresi\u00f3n de la ley deshonras a Dios<\/em>. - (Rom. ii., 23). S\u00ed; porque el pecador renuncia a la gracia de Dios, y en aras de un miserable placer pisotea su amistad. Si un hombre perdiera la amistad de Dios para ganar un reino, o incluso el mundo entero, aun as\u00ed har\u00eda un gran mal, porque la amistad de Dios es de mayor valor que el mundo, y que mil mundos. Pero \u00bfpor qu\u00e9 ofendemos a Dios?\u00a0 \u00bfPor qu\u00e9 ha provocado el imp\u00edo a Dios?<\/em> - (Sal. ix., 13). Por un poco de tierra, por un arrebato de c\u00f3lera, por un placer inmundo, por un mero vapor, por un capricho: Me violaron entre mi gente, por un pu\u00f1ado de cebada y un trozo de pan<\/em>. - (Ezech. xiii., 19). Cuando el pecador delibera si ha de consentir o no en pecar, entonces, por decirlo as\u00ed, toma la balanza en sus manos, y examina qu\u00e9 pesa m\u00e1s: la gracia de Dios, o ese arrebato de ira, ese vapor, ese placer; y cuando despu\u00e9s consiente, declara, en lo que a \u00e9l concierne, que su pasi\u00f3n y su placer son de mayor valor que la amistad de Dios. \u00a1He aqu\u00ed a Dios deshonrado por el pecador! David, reflexionando sobre la grandeza y majestad de Dios, dijo: Se\u00f1or, \u00bfqui\u00e9n es como t\u00fa?<\/em> - (Sal. xxxiv., 10). Pero Dios, por otra parte, cuando ve una gratificaci\u00f3n miserable comparada por los pecadores y preferida a \u00c9l mismo, les dice: \u00bfA qui\u00e9n me has comparado o igualado?<\/em> - (Is. xl., 25). Por eso, dice el Se\u00f1or, ese vil placer era de mayor valor que Mi gracia: Me has echado a tus espaldas<\/em>. - (Ezech. xxiii., 35). No habr\u00edas cometido ese pecado si, en consecuencia, hubieras de perder una mano, o diez ducados, o tal vez incluso mucho menos. Dios, pues, dice Salviano, es tan despreciable a tus ojos, que merece ser despreciado por una pasi\u00f3n moment\u00e1nea o una miserable gratificaci\u00f3n: \"S\u00f3lo Dios fue estimado vil por ti en comparaci\u00f3n con todas las dem\u00e1s cosas\".
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0T\u00fa, pues, oh Dios m\u00edo, eres un Bien infinito; y a menudo te he cambiado por un miserable placer, que apenas consegu\u00ed antes de que se desvaneciera. Pero aunque despreciado por m\u00ed, T\u00fa me ofreces ahora el perd\u00f3n si lo deseo; y prometes devolverme a Tu gracia si me arrepiento de haberte ofendido. S\u00ed, Se\u00f1or m\u00edo, me arrepiento de todo coraz\u00f3n de haberte insultado as\u00ed; detesto mi pecado por encima de todo mal.<\/p>

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Como Jes\u00fas es llamado el Rey de los Dolores y el Rey de los M\u00e1rtires, porque sufri\u00f3 m\u00e1s que todos los M\u00e1rtires, as\u00ed tambi\u00e9n Mar\u00eda es llamada con raz\u00f3n la Reina de los M\u00e1rtires, habiendo merecido este t\u00edtulo por sufrir un Martirio el m\u00e1s cruel, despu\u00e9s del de su Divino Hijo. De ella pueden decirse con toda verdad las palabras de Isa\u00edas: Te coronar\u00e1 con una corona de tribulaci\u00f3n<\/em> - es decir, los sufrimientos de Mar\u00eda, que superaron los sufrimientos de todos los dem\u00e1s m\u00e1rtires unidos, fueron la corona por la que se mostr\u00f3 como la Reina de los m\u00e1rtires.<\/p>

Meditaci\u00f3n I:
<\/b>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00bfQui\u00e9n puede tener un coraz\u00f3n tan duro que no se derrita al o\u00edr el suceso m\u00e1s lamentable que ha ocurrido en el mundo? Hab\u00eda una mujer noble y santa que ten\u00eda un hijo \u00fanico. Este hijo era el m\u00e1s amable que pueda imaginarse: inocente, virtuoso, hermoso, que amaba a su madre con la mayor ternura; tanto que nunca le hab\u00eda causado el menor disgusto, sino que siempre le hab\u00eda mostrado todo su respeto, obediencia y afecto; por eso esta madre hab\u00eda puesto en este hijo todos sus afectos de la tierra. O\u00edd, pues, lo que sucedi\u00f3. Este hijo, por envidia, fue falsamente acusado por sus enemigos; y aunque el juez sab\u00eda, y \u00e9l mismo confes\u00f3, que era inocente, sin embargo, para no ofender a sus enemigos, lo conden\u00f3 a la muerte ignominiosa que ellos ped\u00edan. Esta pobre madre tuvo que sufrir el dolor de ver c\u00f3mo le arrebataban injustamente a su amable y amado hijo en la flor de su edad con una muerte b\u00e1rbara; pues, a fuerza de tormentos y drenada toda su sangre, le hicieron morir en una infame horca en un lugar p\u00fablico de ejecuci\u00f3n, y esto ante sus propios ojos. Almas devotas, \u00bfqu\u00e9 dec\u00eds? \u00bfNo es digno de compasi\u00f3n este suceso y esta infeliz madre?
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Ya comprend\u00e9is de qui\u00e9n hablo. Este hijo, tan cruelmente ejecutado, era nuestro amoroso Redentor, Jes\u00fas; y esta madre era la Sant\u00edsima Virgen Mar\u00eda, que, por el amor que nos ten\u00eda, estuvo dispuesta a verle sacrificado a la justicia divina por la barbarie de los hombres. Este gran tormento, pues, que Mar\u00eda soport\u00f3 por nosotros -tormento que fue m\u00e1s que mil muertes- merece tanto nuestra compasi\u00f3n como nuestra gratitud. Si no podemos corresponder de otro modo a tanto amor, dediquemos al menos unos instantes a considerar la grandeza de los sufrimientos por los que Mar\u00eda se convirti\u00f3 en la Reina de los m\u00e1rtires.
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Oh Madre m\u00eda afligida, Reina de los M\u00e1rtires y de los Dolores, que tan amargamente lloraste a tu Hijo, que muri\u00f3 por mi salvaci\u00f3n, pero \u00bfde qu\u00e9 me servir\u00e1n tus l\u00e1grimas si estoy perdido? por los m\u00e9ritos, pues, de tus dolores, obt\u00e9n para m\u00ed una verdadera contrici\u00f3n por mis pecados, y una verdadera enmienda de vida, junto con una compasi\u00f3n constante y tierna por los sufrimientos de Jes\u00fas y de tus Dolores.<\/p>
