Por tanto, si queremos salvarnos y llegar a ser santos, debemos estar siempre a las puertas de la misericordia divina y rogar y pedir, como una limosna, todo lo que necesitemos.\u00a0 <em>Pide y recibir\u00e1s.<\/em><\/p><p><b>Meditaci\u00f3n I:<br \/><\/b>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 <em>Pide y recibir\u00e1s.<\/em>\u00a0 Somos pobres en todo; pero si oramos somos ricos en todo; porque Dios ha prometido conceder la oraci\u00f3n de quien le ora.  \u00c9l dice: <em>Pide y recibir\u00e1s.<\/em>\u00a0 \u00bfQu\u00e9 mayor amor puede mostrar un amigo hacia otro que decirle: P\u00eddeme lo que quieras y yo te lo dar\u00e9.  Esto es lo que el Se\u00f1or nos dice a cada uno de nosotros.  Dios es Se\u00f1or de todas las cosas.  Promete darnos cuanto le pidamos; si, pues, somos pobres, la culpa es nuestra, porque no le pedimos las gracias de que tenemos necesidad.  Y por eso la oraci\u00f3n mental es moralmente necesaria para todos, porque cuando la dejamos de lado, mientras estamos ocupados en las preocupaciones del mundo, prestamos poca atenci\u00f3n al alma; pero cuando la practicamos descubrimos las necesidades del alma, y entonces pedimos las gracias correspondientes y las obtenemos.<br \/>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Toda la vida de los santos ha sido meditaci\u00f3n y oraci\u00f3n; y todas las gracias por medio de las cuales han llegado a ser santos las han recibido en respuesta a la oraci\u00f3n.  Por tanto, si queremos salvarnos y llegar a ser santos, debemos estar siempre a las puertas de la Divina Misericordia para pedir y rogar, como una limosna, todo aquello de lo que tengamos necesidad.  Necesitamos humildad: pid\u00e1mosla y seremos humildes.  Necesitamos paciencia en las tribulaciones: pid\u00e1mosla y seremos pacientes.  El amor divino es lo que deseamos: pid\u00e1moslo y lo obtendremos.\u00a0 <em>Pedid y se os dar\u00e1<\/em> \u2014 (Matt. vii. 7) is God&#8217;s promise, which cannot fail.\u00a0 And Jesus Christ, in order to inspire us with the greater confidence in our prayers, has promised us that whatever be the graces we shall ask of the Father in His Name, for the sake of His love or His merits, the Father will give us them all: <em>En verdad, en verdad os digo que si ped\u00eds algo al Padre en mi nombre, \u00e9l os lo dar\u00e1.<\/em>. \u2014 (John xvi. 23).\u00a0 And in another place He says that if we ask of Him anything in His own Name and through His merits, He will grant it: <em>Si me pides algo en mi nombre, eso har\u00e9<\/em>. \u2014 (John xiv. 14).\u00a0 Yes; because it is of Faith that whatever God can do can also be done by Jesus Christ, Who is His Son.<\/p><p><strong>Meditaci\u00f3n II:<br \/><\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Council of Trent teaches, in the words of St. Augustine, that, though man is not able with the aid of the grace ordinarily given to fulfil all the Commandments, still he can, by prayer, obtain the additional helps necessary for their observance. \u00a0\u201cGod does not command impossibilities,\u201d says St. Augustine, \u201cbut by His precepts He admonishes you to do what you can, and to ask what you cannot do; and He assists you that you may be able to do it.\u201d \u00a0To this may be added another celebrated passage of St. Augustine: \u201cBy our Faith, which teaches that God does not command impossibilities, we are admonished what to do in things that are easy, and what to ask in things that are difficult.\u201d<br \/>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 But why does God, Who knows our weakness, permit us to be assailed by enemies which we are not able to resist? \u00a0The Lord, answers the holy Doctor, seeing the great advantages which we derive from the very fact that we have of necessity to pray to Him, permits us to be attacked by enemies more powerful than we are, that we may ask His assistance. \u00a0Hence they who are conquered cannot excuse themselves by saying that they had not strength to resist the assault of the enemy; for had they asked aid from God He would have given it; and had they prayed, they would have been victorious. \u00a0Therefore, if they are defeated, God will punish them.\u00a0 St. Bonaventure says that if a general lose a fortress in consequence of not having sought timely succour from his sovereign, he shall be branded as a traitor. \u00a0Thus God regards as a traitor the Christian who, when he finds himself assailed by temptations, neglects to seek the Divine aid. \u00a0<em>Ask,<\/em> says Jesus Christ, <em>and you shall receive.<\/em> \u00a0Then, concludes St. Teresa, he that does not ask does not receive. \u00a0This is conformable to the doctrine of St. James: <em>You have not, because you ask not. <\/em>\u2014 (James iv. 2). \u00a0St. John Chrysostom says that prayer is a powerful weapon of defence against all enemies.\u00a0 \u201cTruly prayer is a great armour.\u201d \u00a0St. Ephrem writes that he who fortifies himself beforehand by prayer prevents the entrance of sin into the soul. \u00a0\u201cIf you pray before you work, the passage into the soul will not be open to sin.\u201d \u00a0David said the same: <em>Praising I will call upon the Lord, and I shall be saved from my enemies. <\/em>\u2014 (Ps. xvii. 4).<br \/>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 If we wish to lead a good life, and to save our souls, we must learn to pray. \u00a0\u201cHe,\u201d says St. Augustine, \u201cknows how to live well who knows how to pray well.\u201d<\/p><hr \/><p><strong>Lectura espiritual:\u00a0\u00a0<i>\u00a1VITA, DULCEDO!  \u00a1SALVE, VIDA NUESTRA, DULZURA NUESTRA!<\/i><\/strong><\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\">XXVII.  MAR\u00cdA ES NUESTRA DULZURA; HACE DULCE LA MUERTE A SUS CLIENTES<\/p><p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0As\u00ed ser\u00e1 tambi\u00e9n tu muerte si eres fiel a Mar\u00eda.  Aunque hayas ofendido a Dios, ella te procurar\u00e1 una muerte dulce y feliz.  Y si por casualidad en ese momento est\u00e1s muy alarmado y pierdes la confianza a la vista de tus pecados, ella vendr\u00e1 y te animar\u00e1, como hizo con Adolfo, conde de Alsacia, que abandon\u00f3 el mundo y entr\u00f3 en la Orden de San Francisco.  En las Cr\u00f3nicas de la Orden se nos dice que ten\u00eda una tierna devoci\u00f3n a la Madre de Dios, y que cuando estaba a punto de morir su vida anterior y los rigores de la justicia divina se presentaron ante su mente, y le hicieron temblar ante el pensamiento de la muerte, y temer por su salvaci\u00f3n eterna.  Apenas hab\u00edan entrado estos pensamientos en su mente, cuando Mar\u00eda, que siempre est\u00e1 activa cuando sus siervos sufren, acompa\u00f1ada de muchos Santos, se present\u00f3 ante el moribundo, y le anim\u00f3 con palabras de la mayor ternura, diciendo: \"Mi amado Adolfo, t\u00fa eres m\u00edo, t\u00fa te has entregado a m\u00ed, y ahora \u00bfpor qu\u00e9 temes tanto a la muerte?\".  Al o\u00edr estas palabras, el siervo de Mar\u00eda se sinti\u00f3 instant\u00e1neamente aliviado, el miedo se desterr\u00f3 de su alma, y expir\u00f3 en medio de la mayor paz y alegr\u00eda.<br \/>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Tengamos, pues, buen coraz\u00f3n, aunque seamos pecadores, y sint\u00e1monos seguros de que Mar\u00eda vendr\u00e1 a asistirnos en la muerte, y nos confortar\u00e1 y consolar\u00e1 con su presencia, con tal s\u00f3lo que la sirvamos con amor durante el tiempo que nos quede de estar en este mundo.  Nuestra Reina, dirigi\u00e9ndose un d\u00eda a Santa Matilde, prometi\u00f3 que asistir\u00eda en la muerte a todos sus clientes que, durante su vida, la hab\u00edan servido fielmente.  \"Yo, como Madre tiern\u00edsima, estar\u00e9 fielmente presente en la muerte de todos los que piadosamente me sirvan, y los consolar\u00e9 y proteger\u00e9\".  Oh Dios, qu\u00e9 consuelo ser\u00e1 en ese \u00faltimo momento de nuestras vidas, cuando nuestra suerte eterna est\u00e1 tan pronto por decidirse, ver a la Reina del Cielo asisti\u00e9ndonos y consol\u00e1ndonos con la seguridad de su protecci\u00f3n.<br \/>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Adem\u00e1s de los casos ya citados en los que hemos visto a Mar\u00eda asistir a sus siervos moribundos, hay innumerables otros registrados en diferentes obras.  Este favor le fue concedido a Santa Clara; a San F\u00e9lix, de la Orden de los Capuchinos; a Santa Clara de Montefalco; a Santa Teresa; a San Pedro de Alc\u00e1ntara.  Pero, para nuestro consuelo com\u00fan, relatar\u00e9 lo siguiente: Cuenta el padre Crasset que Mar\u00eda de Oignies vio a la Sant\u00edsima Virgen junto a la almohada de una devota viuda de Willembroc, enferma de violentas fiebres.  Mar\u00eda estaba a su lado, consol\u00e1ndola y refresc\u00e1ndola con un abanico.  De San Juan de Dios, que era devoto de Mar\u00eda, se cuenta que esperaba que ella le visitara en su lecho de muerte, pero al no verla llegar se afligi\u00f3 y tal vez incluso se quej\u00f3.  Pero cuando lleg\u00f3 su \u00faltima hora, se le apareci\u00f3 la divina Madre y, reprendi\u00e9ndole suavemente por su poca confianza, le dirigi\u00f3 las siguientes tiernas palabras, que bien pueden animar a todos los siervos de Mar\u00eda: \"Juan, no est\u00e1 en m\u00ed abandonar a mis clientes en semejante momento\".  Como si hubiera dicho: \"Juan, \u00bfen qu\u00e9 estabas pensando?  \u00bfPensabas que te hab\u00eda abandonado?  \u00bfY no sabes que nunca abandono a mis clientes a la hora de la muerte?  Si no vine antes, fue porque no hab\u00eda llegado tu hora; pero ahora que ha llegado, he aqu\u00ed que te llevo; vayamos al Cielo.\"  Poco despu\u00e9s expir\u00f3 el Santo y huy\u00f3 a aquel bendito reino, para dar all\u00ed gracias por toda la eternidad a su amant\u00edsima Reina.<\/p><hr \/><p><strong>Meditaci\u00f3n vespertina:\u00a0\u00a0<i>LA PR\u00c1CTICA DEL AMOR DE JESUCRISTO\u00a0<\/i><\/strong><\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\">XXXIII.  \"LA CARIDAD NO ENVIDIA\". - EL QUE AMA A JES\u00daS NO ENVIDIA A LOS GRANDES DEL MUNDO, SINO S\u00d3LO A LOS QUE SON MAYORES AMANTES DE JESUCRISTO<\/p><p><strong>Meditaci\u00f3n I:<br \/><\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Las siguientes son las se\u00f1ales que indican si trabajamos \u00fanicamente para Dios en cualquier empresa espiritual.  1.- Si no nos perturba el fracaso de nuestros planes, porque cuando vemos que no es la voluntad de Dios, tampoco lo es ya la nuestra.  2.- Si nos alegramos del bien hecho por otros tan de coraz\u00f3n como si lo hubi\u00e9ramos hecho nosotros.  3.- Si no tenemos preferencia por un cargo m\u00e1s que por otro, sino que aceptamos de buen grado el que nos impone la obediencia a los superiores.  4.- Si despu\u00e9s de nuestras acciones no buscamos el agradecimiento o la aprobaci\u00f3n de los dem\u00e1s, ni nos afecta en modo alguno si nos encuentran faltas o nos rega\u00f1an, estando satisfechos de haber agradado a Dios.  Y si cuando el mundo nos aplaude no nos envanecemos, sino que salimos al encuentro de la vanagloria, que podr\u00eda hacerse sentir, con la respuesta del bienaventurado Juan de \u00c1vila: \"\u00a1Vete!  Llegaste demasiado tarde, pues todo se ha dado ya a Dios\".<br \/>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Esto es entrar en el gozo del Se\u00f1or; es decir, gozar del disfrute de Dios, como est\u00e1 prometido a sus siervos fieles: <em>Bien, siervo bueno y fiel; porque has sido fiel en lo poco... entra en el gozo de tu Se\u00f1or.<\/em>. \u2014 (Matt. xxv. 23).\u00a0 And if it falls to our lot to do something pleasing to God, what more, asks St. John Chrysostom, can we desire?\u00a0 &#8220;If thou art found worthy to perform something that pleases God, dost thou seek other recompense than this?&#8221;\u00a0 The greatest reward, the brightest fortune that can befall a creature is to give pleasure to his Creator.<\/p><p><strong>Meditaci\u00f3n II:<br \/><\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 And this is what Jesus Christ looks for from a soul that loves Him: <em>Put me,<\/em> He says, <em>as a seal upon thy heart, as a seal upon thy arm. \u2014 <\/em>(Cant. viii. 6). \u00a0He desires us to place Him as a seal on our heart and on our arm: on our heart, in order that whatever we intend doing we may intend solely for the love of God; on our arm, in order that, whatever we do, all may be done to please God; so that God may be always the sole end of all our thoughts and of all our actions. \u00a0St. Teresa said that he who would become a Saint must live free from every other desire than that of pleasing God; and her first daughter, the Venerable Beatrice of the Incarnation, said: \u201cNothing whatever could repay the slightest thing done for God.\u201d\u00a0 And with reason; for all things done to please God are acts of Charity which unite us with God, and obtain for us everlasting rewards.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-accordion-item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-title-8763\" class=\"elementor-tab-title\" data-tab=\"3\" role=\"button\" aria-controls=\"elementor-tab-content-8763\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-accordion-icon elementor-accordion-icon-left\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-accordion-icon-closed\"><i class=\"fas fa-plus\"><\/i><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-accordion-icon-opened\"><i class=\"fas fa-minus\"><\/i><\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a class=\"elementor-accordion-title\" tabindex=\"0\">LOS D\u00cdAS DE ROGATIVA - LUNES<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-content-8763\" class=\"elementor-tab-content elementor-clearfix\" data-tab=\"3\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"elementor-tab-title-8763\"><p><b>Meditaci\u00f3n matutina:\u00a0<em> CONDICIONES DE LA ORACI\u00d3N<\/em><\/b><\/p><p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<em>Todo lo que pidiereis orando, creed que lo recibir\u00e9is, y os vendr\u00e1.<\/em>. \u2014 (Mark xi. 24).\u00a0 Many pray, but they do not obtain what they pray for, because they do not pray as they ought.\u00a0 <em>Usted pregunta<\/em>dice Santiago, <em>y no recibes, porque pides mal<\/em>. \u2014 (James iv. 3).\u00a0 To be heard by God we must ask with humility, confidence, and perseverance.\u00a0 And what prayers, O my God, wilt Thou ever hear, if Thou hearest not those which are made as Thou wishest them to be made?<\/p><p><b>Meditaci\u00f3n I:<br \/><\/b>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Consideremos la <em>condiciones de la oraci\u00f3n<\/em>.  Muchos oran, pero no obtienen el objeto de sus oraciones, porque no oran como deben.\u00a0 <em>Usted pregunta<\/em>dice Santiago, <em>y no recibes, porque pides mal<\/em>. \u2014 (James iv. 3).\u00a0 To pray well it is necessary, in the first place, to pray with humility.\u00a0 <em>Dios resiste a los soberbios y da gracia a los humildes<\/em>. \u2014 (James iv. 6).\u00a0 God rejects the petitions of the proud, but does not allow the humble to depart without hearing all their prayers.\u00a0 <em>La oraci\u00f3n del que se humilla traspasar\u00e1 las nubes. . . y no se apartar\u00e1 hasta que el Alt\u00edsimo lo contemple.<\/em>. \u2014 (Ecclus. xxxv. 21).\u00a0 This holds, even though they have been hitherto sinners.\u00a0 <em>Un coraz\u00f3n contrito y humillado, oh Dios, no despreciar\u00e1s<\/em>. \u2014 (Ps. l. 19).\u00a0 Secondly, it is necessary to pray with confidence.\u00a0 <em>Nadie ha esperado en el Se\u00f1or, y ha sido confundido<\/em>. \u2014 (Ecclus. ii. 11).\u00a0 Jesus Christ has taught us to call God, in our petitions for His graces, by no other name than that of <em>Padre<\/em>para hacernos orar con la misma confianza con que un ni\u00f1o recurre a sus padres.  Quien reza con confianza, obtiene toda gracia.\u00a0 <em>Todo lo que pidiereis orando, creed que lo recibir\u00e9is, y os vendr\u00e1\".<\/em>. \u2014 (Mark xi. 24).\u00a0 And who, says St. Augustine, can fear that the promises of God, Who is Truth itself, will be violated.\u00a0 God, says the Scripture, is not like men, who promise but do not perform, either because they intend to deceive, or because they change their minds.\u00a0 <em>Dios no es como hombre para que mienta, ni como hijo de hombre para que cambie.  \u00bfHa dicho, pues, y no har\u00e1?<\/em> \u2014 (Num. xxiii. 19).\u00a0 And why, adds the same St. Augustine, should the Lord so earnestly exhort us to ask His graces, if He did not wish to bestow them upon us?\u00a0 By His promises He has bound Himself to grant us the graces we ask of Him.\u00a0 &#8220;By promising,&#8221; says St. Augustine, &#8220;He has made Himself a debtor.&#8221;<br \/>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Pero algunos dir\u00e1n: Soy un pecador y, por tanto, no merezco ser escuchado. Mucha gente pide salud o riquezas, pero Dios no se las da, porque ve que ser\u00edan ocasi\u00f3n de pecar, o al menos de volverse tibio en su servicio.  Por eso, cuando pedimos estos dones temporales, debemos a\u00f1adir siempre esta condici\u00f3n. <em>si son provechosas para nuestras almas<\/em>.  Y cuando veamos que Dios no nos las da, tengamos la seguridad de que las rechaza s\u00f3lo porque nos ama, y porque ve que las cosas que pedimos s\u00f3lo perjudicar\u00edan nuestro bienestar espiritual.<br \/>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Y a menudo rogamos a Dios que nos libre de alguna tentaci\u00f3n molesta que trata de inducirnos a renunciar a su gracia; pero Dios no nos libra, para que nuestra alma est\u00e9 m\u00e1s estrechamente unida en amor con \u00c9l.  No son las tentaciones ni los malos pensamientos los que nos da\u00f1an y nos separan de Dios, sino el consentimiento al mal.  Cuando el alma, por la asistencia de la gracia de Dios, resiste a una tentaci\u00f3n, hace un gran avance en el camino de la perfecci\u00f3n. Le dijo: Basta con tener Mi gracia: <em>Mi gracia te basta<\/em>. \u2014 (2 Cor. xii. 7-9).\u00a0 Thus should we, in the temptations which assault us, pray God to deliver us from them, or at least to help us to resist them.\u00a0 And when we thus pray, we should be quite certain that God is already helping us to resist them: <em>Me invocaste en la aflicci\u00f3n, y yo te libr\u00e9.  Te escuch\u00e9 en el lugar secreto de la tempestad<\/em>. \u2014 (Ps. lxxx. 8).\u00a0 God often leaves us in the storm for our greater good; but still He hears us in secret, and gives us His grace to strengthen us to resist and to be resigned.<\/p><p><strong>Meditaci\u00f3n II:<br \/><\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 All temporal gifts which are not necessary for salvation ought to be asked conditionally; and if we see that God does not give them, we must feel sure that He refuses them for our greater good. \u00a0But with regard to spiritual graces, we must be certain that God gives them to us when we ask Him. \u00a0St. Teresa says that God loves us more than we love ourselves. \u00a0And St. Augustine has declared that God has a greater desire to give us His grace than we have to receive it: \u201cHe is more willing to bestow His favours upon you than you are desirous of receiving them.\u201d \u00a0And after him, St. Mary Magdalen de Pazzi has said that God feels a kind of obligation to the soul that prays, and, as it were, says to it: \u201cSoul, I thank thee that thou askest Me for grace.\u201d \u00a0For then the soul gives God an opportunity of doing good to it, and of thus satisfying His desire of giving His grace to all. \u00a0And how can it ever happen that God will not hear a soul that asks for the things which He most delights to give? \u00a0When the soul says: \u201cLord, I ask Thee not for riches, honours, the goods of this world, but I only beg for Thy grace. \u00a0Deliver me from sin; give me a good death; give me Paradise; give me Thy love,\u201d which is the grace that, as St. Francis de Sales says, we ought to pray for above all others, \u201cgive me resignation to Thy will\u201d \u2014 when the soul prays thus, how is it possible that God should refuse to hear it? \u00a0And what prayers, O my God, wilt Thou ever hear, asks St. Augustine, if Thou hearest not those that are made as Thou wishest them to be made: \u201cIf Thou hearest not these, what dost thou hear?\u201d \u00a0And St. Bernard says that when we ask for spiritual graces of this kind, the desire of obtaining them an only come to us from God Himself; so the Saint turns to God, and says to Him: \u201cWherefore hast Thou given the desire unless Thou art willing to satisfy it?\u201d \u00a0But above all, the words of Jesus Christ should revive our confidence, when we are praying for spiritual graces: <em>If you, then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father from heaven give the good Spirit to them that ask him? <\/em>\u2014 (Luke xi. 13). \u00a0If you, who are full of evil and of self-love, are unable to refuse your children the good things which they ask, how much more will your heavenly Father, Who loves you more than any earthly father can love his family, grant you His spiritual gifts, when you ask Him for them?<br \/>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Let us pray, then, and be ever praying, if we wish to be saved. \u00a0Let prayer be our most delightful occupation; let prayer be the exercise of our whole life. \u00a0And when we are praying for particular graces, let us never forget to ask for the grace to continue to pray; because if we ever leave off praying we shall be lost. \u00a0There is nothing easier than prayer. \u00a0It costs us little to say: Lord, stand by me! \u00a0Lord, assist me! \u00a0Lord, give me Thy love! and the like. \u00a0What can be easier than this? El alma en el Cielo ve a Dios cara a cara, y conociendo su infinita belleza y todas las perfecciones que le hacen digno de infinito amor, no puede menos de amarle con todas sus fuerzas, y amarle mucho m\u00e1s que a s\u00ed misma.  Es m\u00e1s, como olvid\u00e1ndose de s\u00ed misma, el alma no piensa en otra cosa que en ver feliz a Aquel que es su Amado y su Dios; y viendo que Dios, \u00fanico objeto de sus afectos, goza de infinita felicidad, esta felicidad de Dios constituye todo su Para\u00edso.
