Muri\u00f3 sin convulsiones ni angustias, como en un dulce sue\u00f1o. San Clemente Mar\u00eda Hofbauer y el P. Tadeo H\u00fcbl dir\u00edan que a esa hora oyeron un extra\u00f1o golpeteo de un bast\u00f3n sobre la mesa.<\/p><p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Nacido en Marianella, cerca de N\u00e1poles, Italia, el 27 de septiembre de 1696; ordenado en N\u00e1poles el 21 de diciembre de 1726. Fund\u00f3 la Congregaci\u00f3n del Sant\u00edsimo Redentor en Scala, el 9 de noviembre de 1732; elegido superior general y rector mayor, el 6 de mayo de 1743; consagrado obispo, el 20 de junio de 1762; renunci\u00f3 a su obispado, el 17 de julio de 1775. Fue beatificado el 15 de septiembre de 1816; canonizado el 26 de mayo de 1839; declarado \"Doctor de la Iglesia\" el 23 de marzo de 1871; y nombrado patrono de los confesores y moralistas el 26 de abril de 1950.
