Fue este pensamiento el que indujo a tantos solitarios a retirarse a los desiertos; a tantos religiosos, incluso reyes y reinas, a encerrarse en claustros; y a tantos m\u00e1rtires a sacrificar sus vidas en medio de tormentos, para adquirir una eternidad feliz en el Cielo, y evitar una eternidad miserable en el infierno. El bienaventurado Juan de \u00c1vila convirti\u00f3 a cierta se\u00f1ora con estas dos palabras: \"Reflexiona, le dijo, sobre estas dos palabras: <\/span><em style=\"text-align: var(--text-align);\">Siempre <\/em><span style=\"text-align: var(--text-align);\">y <\/span><em style=\"text-align: var(--text-align);\">Nunca<\/em><span style=\"text-align: var(--text-align);\">.\" Cierto monje baj\u00f3 a una tumba para meditar continuamente en la Eternidad, y repet\u00eda sin cesar: \"\u00a1Oh Eternidad! Eternidad!\"<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;\u00a1Cu\u00e1ntas veces, Dios m\u00edo, he merecido la eternidad del infierno! \u00a1Oh, que nunca te hubiera ofendido! Conc\u00e9deme el dolor por mis pecados; ten compasi\u00f3n de m\u00ed. <br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; El mismo Beato Juan de \u00c1vila dice, que el que cree en la eternidad y no se hace santo, sea encerrado como trastornado. Cuando hayamos llegado a la eternidad no se tratar\u00e1 de que residamos en una casa m\u00e1s o menos c\u00f3moda, o m\u00e1s o menos ventilada: se tratar\u00e1 de que habitemos en un palacio rebosante de delicias, o en un abismo de tormentos sin fin. \u00bfY por cu\u00e1nto tiempo? No por cuarenta o cincuenta a\u00f1os, sino para siempre, mientras Dios sea Dios. A los santos, para obtener la salvaci\u00f3n, les parec\u00eda poco entregar toda su vida a la oraci\u00f3n, a la penitencia y a la pr\u00e1ctica de las buenas obras. \u00bfY qu\u00e9 hacemos nosotros con el mismo fin?<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;\u00a1Oh Dios m\u00edo!
