The June calendar has been posted. We encourage you to notice and appreciate the richness of the meaningful liturgy of the pre-1955 liturgical celebrations, its clarity and encompassing way of presenting –through the hands of the priest– our prayers to the Lord, in unity with all the traditional intentions and orations the Holy Mother Church instructs us to recall in all Masses of the month. The pre-Bugnini liturgy is, without doubt, the best and most coherent way of defending our traditional Catholic faith in the present time.
The month of June is dedicated to the Sacred Heart, and includes the conclusion of the great fifty days of Easter, and other Feasts of Our Lord related to the cause of our Redemption and establishment of the Church: Pentecost, Trinity Sunday, Corpus Christi, and the Sacred Heart. Other Feasts of special note are those of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist, and the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul. The summer Ember Days occur during the Octave of Pentecost: June 11, 13 and 14. We also recall the anniversary of the second of Our Lady of Fatima’s apparitions on June 13.
The Society of the Most Holy Redeemer celebrates the Feast of Our Lady of Perpetual Help on Saturday, June 28, as it is delayed one day this year due to the Feast of the Sacred Heart occurring on June 27, and we invite all to join with us in praying a novena in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary under this title beginning on June 18. Our Society also remembers Bl. Gennaro Maria Sarnelli, CSsR, one of St. Alphonsus de Liguori’s earliest companions, who died on June 30, 1744.
