Medita\u00e7\u00e3o matinal:\u00a0 A VINDA DO ESP\u00cdRITO SANTO PARA A ALMA<\/em><\/b><\/p>

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0O Pai Eterno n\u00e3o se contentou em nos dar Seu Filho, Jesus Cristo, para nos salvar por Sua morte, Ele tamb\u00e9m nos deu o Esp\u00edrito Santo para habitar sempre em nossa alma e mant\u00ea-la inflamada com Seu santo amor. Por isso, quando o Esp\u00edrito Santo desceu sobre os Ap\u00f3stolos, Ele apareceu na forma de l\u00ednguas de fogo. Esse \u00e9 o fogo sagrado que inflamou os santos com o desejo de fazer grandes coisas por Deus, que os capacitou a amar seus inimigos mais cru\u00e9is, a buscar o desprezo, a renunciar a todas as riquezas e honras do mundo e at\u00e9 mesmo a abra\u00e7ar os tormentos e a morte.<\/p>

Medita\u00e7\u00e3o I:
<\/b>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0O Esp\u00edrito Santo \u00e9 o v\u00ednculo divino que une o Pai ao Filho; \u00e9 Ele quem une nossas almas, por meio do amor, a Deus. Pois, como diz Santo Agostinho, a uni\u00e3o com Deus \u00e9 o efeito do amor. \"A caridade \u00e9 uma virtude que nos une a Deus.\" As correntes do mundo s\u00e3o correntes de morte, mas os la\u00e7os do Esp\u00edrito Santo s\u00e3o la\u00e7os de vida eterna, porque nos ligam a Deus, que \u00e9 nossa verdadeira e \u00fanica Vida.
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Lembremo-nos tamb\u00e9m de que todas as luzes, inspira\u00e7\u00f5es, apelos divinos, todos os bons atos que realizamos durante nossa vida, todos os nossos atos de contri\u00e7\u00e3o, de confian\u00e7a na miseric\u00f3rdia divina, de amor, de resigna\u00e7\u00e3o, foram dons do Esp\u00edrito Santo.\u00a0 Do mesmo modo, o Esp\u00edrito tamb\u00e9m ajuda a nossa fraqueza, pois n\u00e3o sabemos o que havemos de pedir como conv\u00e9m, mas o pr\u00f3prio Esp\u00edrito pede por n\u00f3s com gemidos inexprim\u00edveis<\/em>. \u2014 (Rom. viii. 26).\u00a0 Thus, it is the Holy Ghost Who prays for us; for we know not what to ask, but the Holy Spirit teaches us what we should pray for.

D\u00ea-me for\u00e7as para n\u00e3o negligenciar a ora\u00e7\u00e3o em momentos de cansa\u00e7o e secura. Eu me perdi por causa de meus pecados. O Senhor deseja minha santifica\u00e7\u00e3o e salva\u00e7\u00e3o, e eu tamb\u00e9m desejo sinceramente me tornar santo. Eu Te amo, meu soberano Bem, meu Amor, meu Tudo, e porque Te amo, eu me entrego totalmente a Ti. \u00d3 Sant\u00edssima Virgem Maria, proteja-me.<\/p>

Medita\u00e7\u00e3o II:
<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 We know by Faith that the Holy Ghost is the Love that the Eternal Father and the Eternal Word bear one another, and therefore the gift of divine charity which the Lord infuses into our souls, and which is the greatest of all gifts, is particularly attributed to the Holy Ghost, as St. Paul teaches: A caridade de Deus \u00e9 derramada em nosso cora\u00e7\u00e3o pelo Esp\u00edrito Santo que nos \u00e9 dado <\/em>\u2014 (Rom. v. 5). \u00a0And our Lord Himself made this great promise: If you love Me I will pray My Father, and He will send you the Holy Spirit that He may always dwell in you. \u00a0If you love me, keep my commandments. \u00a0And I will ask my Father and he will give you another Paraclete that he may abide with you for ever. <\/em>\u2014 (John xiv. 15, 16).
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 O Holy Spirit, divine Paraclete, Father of the poor, Consoler of the afflicted, Light of hearts, Sanctifier of souls, behold me prostrate in Thy Presence. \u00a0I adore Thee with the most profound submission. \u00a0I love Thee with all my affections. \u00a0I have been so ungrateful as to offend Thee. \u00a0I ask a thousand pardons for all my sins.\u00a0 I offer Thee my heart, cold as it is, and I supplicate Thee to let a ray of Thy light and a spark of Thy fire enter therein. \u00a0Thou art a divine Spirit, fortify me against the wicked spirits: Thou art a Fire, enkindle in me the fire of Thy love: Thou art a Light, enlighten me that I may know the things of eternity: Thou art the Author of the heavenly gifts, I beseech Thee to grant them to me.\u00a0 Vivify me by Thy grace, sanctify me by Thy charity, govern me by Thy wisdom, adopt me by Thy beauty as Thy child, and save me by Thy infinite mercy. \u00a0Amen.<\/p>

Leitura espiritual:\u00a0 A\u00c7\u00c3O DE GRA\u00c7AS AP\u00d3S A COMUNH\u00c3O<\/em><\/strong><\/p>

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 There is no prayer more agreeable to God, or more profitable to the soul, than that which is made during the Thanksgiving after Communion.<\/em> \u00a0It is the opinion of many grave writers (Suarez, Cajetan, Valentia, De Lugo, and others), that the Holy Communion, as long as the Sacramental species last, constantly produces greater and greater graces in the soul, provided the soul is then constant in disposing itself by new acts of virtue. \u00a0The Council of Florence, in the Decree of Eugenius IV to the Armenians, teaches that the Blessed Sacrament produces the same effect in the soul as material food, which, when it enters the body, produces effects according to the state in which it finds it.
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 For this reason, holy souls endeavour to remain as long as possible in prayer after Communion. \u00a0The Blessed John of Avila, even when he was giving his missions, used to remain for at least two hours in prayer. \u00a0Father Balthazar Alvarez used to say, that we should set great value on the time after Communion, imagining that we hear from the lips of Jesus Christ Himself the words that He addressed to His disciples: But me you have not always with you. <\/em>\u2014 (Matt. xxvi. 11).
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It is not advisable, as many do, to begin to read immediately after Communion; it is better to spend at least a short time in producing holy affections, and in conversing with Jesus, Who is then within us, and in repeating many times words of tenderness, or some fervent prayer. \u00a0Jesus Christ repeated the same prayer in the Garden three times: And he prayed the third time, saying the self-same word. <\/em>\u2014 (Matt. xxvi. 44). \u00a0In affections and prayers it is, then, that the soul should entertain itself with Jesus after Communion; for we must know that the acts formed in prayer after Communion are far more precious and meritorious in the sight of God than when made at another time; for the soul being then united with Jesus, the value of the acts is increased by the presence of Jesus. \u00a0We should, moreover, know, that after Communion Jesus Christ is more disposed to grant graces. \u00a0St. Teresa says, that after Communion Jesus places Himself in the soul as on a throne of grace, and then says: What wiliest thou that I should do for thee? <\/em>\u2014 (Mark x. 51) meaning: O soul, I am come for the express purpose of granting thee graces: ask Me what thou wilt, and as much as thou wilt, and thou shalt receive all.
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Oh, what treasures of grace would you receive, devout soul, if you only entertained yourself with Jesus for an hour, or at least half-an-hour, after Conununion! \u00a0After your thanksgiving is ended, be also careful during the whole day on which you have communicated to keep yourself united by affections and prayers with Jesus, Whom you have received.<\/p>

Medita\u00e7\u00e3o noturna:\u00a0\u00a0A PR\u00c1TICA DO AMOR DE JESUS CRISTO\u00a0<\/i><\/strong><\/p>

X. OS MEIOS DE EVITAR A MORNID\u00c3O E ALCAN\u00c7AR A PERFEI\u00c7\u00c3O<\/p>

Medita\u00e7\u00e3o I:
<\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0O maior mal \u00e9 que, sem a ora\u00e7\u00e3o mental, n\u00e3o oramos de forma alguma. Em minhas obras espirituais, falei com frequ\u00eancia sobre a necessidade da ora\u00e7\u00e3o, e mais especialmente em um pequeno volume intitulado, On Prayer, the Great Means of Salvation and Perfection [Sobre a Ora\u00e7\u00e3o, o Grande Meio de Salva\u00e7\u00e3o e Perfei\u00e7\u00e3o];<\/em> E aqui tamb\u00e9m direi algumas outras coisas. Ser\u00e1 suficiente, ent\u00e3o, citar a opini\u00e3o do Vener\u00e1vel Palafox, Bispo de Osma: \"Como pode a caridade durar, a menos que Deus nos conceda a perseveran\u00e7a? Como o Senhor nos conceder\u00e1 a perseveran\u00e7a se n\u00e3o a pedirmos a Ele? E como a pediremos a Ele a n\u00e3o ser por meio da ora\u00e7\u00e3o? Sem a ora\u00e7\u00e3o, n\u00e3o h\u00e1 comunica\u00e7\u00e3o com Deus para a preserva\u00e7\u00e3o da virtude.\" E assim \u00e9, porque aquele que negligencia a ora\u00e7\u00e3o mental v\u00ea muito pouco sobre as necessidades de sua alma; ele sabe pouco sobre os perigos de sua salva\u00e7\u00e3o, sobre os meios a serem usados para vencer as tenta\u00e7\u00f5es; e assim, entendendo pouco sobre a necessidade da ora\u00e7\u00e3o, ele deixa de orar e certamente se perder\u00e1.<\/p>

Medita\u00e7\u00e3o II:
<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Then as regards subjects for Meditation, nothing is more useful than to meditate on the Four Last Things \u2013 Death, Judgment, Hell, and Heaven; but it is of especial advantage to meditate on Death, and to imagine ourselves expiring on the bed of sickness, with the Crucifix in our hands, and on the point of entering into eternity. \u00a0But above all, to one that loves Jesus Christ, and is anxious always to increase in His love, no consideration is more efficacious than that of the Passion of the Redeemer. \u00a0St. Francis de Sales calls Mount Calvary \u201cthe Mountain of Lovers.\u201d \u00a0All the lovers of Jesus Christ love to abide on this Mountain, where no air is breathed but the air of Divine love. \u00a0When we see a God dying for our love, and dying in order to gain our love (He loved us and delivered himself up for us),<\/em> it is impossible for us not to love Him ardently. \u00a0Such darts of love continually issue forth from the Wounds of Christ Crucified as pierce even hearts of stone. \u00a0Oh, happy he who is ever going during life to the heights of Calvary! \u00a0O blessed Mount! \u00a0O lovely Mount! \u00a0O beloved Mount! \u00a0And who shall ever leave thee more!\u00a0 A Mount that sends forth flames to enkindle the souls that perseveringly abide upon thee!<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Medita\u00e7\u00e3o matinal:\u00a0 O AMOR DE JESUS NO SANT\u00cdSSIMO SACRAMENTO<\/em><\/b><\/p>

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Jesus, n\u00e3o querendo se separar de n\u00f3s nem mesmo na morte, instituiu o Sant\u00edssimo Sacramento para permanecer conosco at\u00e9 o fim do mundo.\u00a0 Eis que estou com voc\u00eas todos os dias, at\u00e9 a consuma\u00e7\u00e3o do mundo<\/em>. \u2014 (Matt. xxviii. 20).<\/p>

Medita\u00e7\u00e3o I:
<\/b>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Nosso amoros\u00edssimo Redentor, sabendo que deveria deixar esta Terra e retornar a Seu Pai t\u00e3o logo tivesse realizado a obra de nossa Reden\u00e7\u00e3o por meio de Sua morte, e vendo que Sua hora estava pr\u00f3xima, - Jesus sabia que era chegada a sua hora de passar deste mundo para o seu pai<\/em> (John xiii. 1) \u2013 would not leave us orphans in this valley of tears.\u00a0 What, then, did He do?\u00a0 He instituted the Most Holy Sacrament of the Eucharist, in which He left us His whole Self.\u00a0 “No tongue,” says St. Peter of Alcantara, “can express the greatness of the love of Jesus for our souls; and hence this Spouse, before He departed this life, in order that His absence might not be the occasion of our forgetting Him, left us as a memorial this Most Holy Sacrament, in which He might Himself remain with us, not being willing that any other pledge but Himself should remain to remind us of Him.”\u00a0 Jesus, therefore, not wishing to separate Himself from us by His death, instituted this Sacrament of love, in order to remain with us until the end of the world: Eis que estou com voc\u00eas todos os dias, at\u00e9 a consuma\u00e7\u00e3o do mundo<\/em>. \u2014 (Matt. xxviii. 20).\u00a0 Let us behold Him, therefore, as Faith teaches us, residing upon numberless altars, \u2013 shut up in so many prisons of love, that He may be found by all who seek Him.\u00a0 “But, O Lord,” says St. Bernard, “this does not become Thy majesty.”\u00a0 Jesus Christ answers: Basta que isso esteja de acordo com o Meu amor<\/em>.
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00d3 meu amado Jesus, \u00f3 Deus que nos ama com t\u00e3o grande amor, o que mais pode fazer para que n\u00f3s, pecadores ingratos, O amemos? Oh, se os homens Te amassem, todas as igrejas estariam continuamente cheias de pessoas devotas, prostradas em seus rostos, adorando-Te e agradecendo-Te, ardendo com Teu amor ao contemplar-Te com os olhos da F\u00e9 escondidos em um tabern\u00e1culo! Mas n\u00e3o; os homens, esquecidos de Ti e de Teu amor, esperam de fato por um homem mortal de quem esperam algum bem perec\u00edvel, e deixam-Te, meu Senhor, abandonado e sozinho. Oh, se eu fosse capaz de reparar Tua ingratid\u00e3o por meio de minha pr\u00f3pria devo\u00e7\u00e3o!<\/p>

Medita\u00e7\u00e3o II:
<\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Those persons are tenderly affected who go to Jerusalem, and visit the place where the Word Incarnate was born, the hall where He was scourged, the Mount on which He died, and the Sepulchre in which He was buried; but how much greater ought our tenderness to be in visiting an altar on which Jesus is present in the Most Holy Sacrament? \u00a0The Blessed John of Avila was accustomed to say, that there was no sanctuary so excellent and holy as a church in which Jesus was sacramentally present.
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I am grieved, O my Jesus, that I have hitherto been like unto such, careless and forgetful of Thee. \u00a0But for the future I will not be one of their number. \u00a0I will devote myself to Thee and visit Thee as often as I am able. \u00a0Inflame my heart with Thy holy love, that for the future I may live only to love and to please Thee. \u00a0Thou deservest to be loved by the hearts of all. \u00a0If at one time I despised Thee, I now desire to love Thee. \u00a0My Jesus, Thou art my Love and my only Good \u2013 my God and my All<\/em>. \u00a0Most Holy Virgin Mary, obtain for me a great love of Jesus in the Holy Sacrament.
<\/strong><\/p>

Leitura espiritual:\u00a0 VISITANDO JESUS NO SANT\u00cdSSIMO SACRAMENTO<\/em><\/strong><\/p>

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Nossa santa f\u00e9 nos ensina, e somos obrigados a acreditar que, na h\u00f3stia consagrada, Jesus Cristo est\u00e1 realmente presente sob a forma de p\u00e3o. Mas tamb\u00e9m devemos entender que Ele est\u00e1 presente em nossos altares como em um trono de amor e miseric\u00f3rdia, para distribuir gra\u00e7as e nos mostrar o amor que Ele tem por n\u00f3s, desejando assim habitar noite e dia escondido em nosso meio.
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00c9 bem sabido que a Santa Igreja instituiu a Festa de Corpus Christi com uma oitava solene, e que ela a celebra com muitas prociss\u00f5es e frequente exposi\u00e7\u00e3o do Sant\u00edssimo Sacramento, para que os homens possam assim ser levados a reconhecer e honrar com gratid\u00e3o essa presen\u00e7a amorosa e morada de Jesus Cristo no Sacramento do Altar, por meio de suas devo\u00e7\u00f5es, a\u00e7\u00f5es de gra\u00e7as e ternas afei\u00e7\u00f5es de suas almas. \u00d3 Deus, quantos insultos e ultrajes esse admir\u00e1vel Redentor n\u00e3o teve e n\u00e3o tem que suportar diariamente nesse Sacramento por parte daqueles mesmos homens por cujo amor Ele permanece em nossos altares! De fato, Ele se queixou \u00e0 Sua querida serva, Santa Margarida Maria Alacoque, como autora do Livro de Devo\u00e7\u00e3o ao Cora\u00e7\u00e3o de Jesus<\/em> relata. Um dia, quando ela estava em ora\u00e7\u00e3o diante do Sant\u00edssimo Sacramento, Jesus lhe mostrou Seu Cora\u00e7\u00e3o em um trono de chamas, coroado de espinhos e encimado por uma cruz, e assim se dirigiu a ela: \"Eis este Cora\u00e7\u00e3o que tanto amou os homens e que em nada se poupou, chegando mesmo a consumir-se, para assim lhes mostrar o Seu amor; mas, em troca, a maior parte dos homens s\u00f3 Me mostra ingratid\u00e3o pela irrever\u00eancia, tepidez, sacril\u00e9gio e desprezo de que Me fazem objeto neste Sacramento de amor; e o que sinto mais intensamente \u00e9 que os cora\u00e7\u00f5es consagrados a Mim Me tratam assim\". Jesus ent\u00e3o expressou Seu desejo de que a primeira sexta-feira ap\u00f3s a oitava de Corpus Christi fosse dedicada como um festival particular em honra de Seu ador\u00e1vel Cora\u00e7\u00e3o; e que nesse dia todas as almas que O amassem se esfor\u00e7assem, por meio de suas homenagens e afei\u00e7\u00f5es, para reparar os insultos que os homens Lhe fizeram no Sacramento do Altar. Ao mesmo tempo, prometeu abundantes gra\u00e7as a todos os que assim O honrassem presente no Sant\u00edssimo Sacramento.
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Essa presen\u00e7a nos faz compreender o que nosso Senhor disse antigamente por seu profeta, que suas del\u00edcias s\u00e3o estar com os filhos dos homens, pois n\u00e3o sabe separar-se deles, mesmo quando eles o abandonam e desprezam. Isso tamb\u00e9m nos mostra como s\u00e3o agrad\u00e1veis ao Cora\u00e7\u00e3o de Jesus todas as almas que frequentemente O visitam e Lhe fazem companhia nas igrejas em que Ele est\u00e1 presente sob as esp\u00e9cies sacramentais. Ele quis que Santa Maria Madalena de Pazzi O visitasse no Sant\u00edssimo Sacramento trinta e tr\u00eas vezes por dia; e nisso Sua amada esposa O obedeceu fielmente, e em todas as suas visitas ela se aproximava o mais poss\u00edvel do altar, como lemos em sua Vida.
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Mas que falem todas as almas devotas que frequentemente v\u00e3o ter a companhia de Jesus no Sant\u00edssimo Sacramento - que nos falem dos dons e inspira\u00e7\u00f5es que receberam, das chamas de amor que ali se acenderam em suas almas e do Para\u00edso que desfrutam na presen\u00e7a desse Deus oculto.
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0O servo de Deus e grande mission\u00e1rio siciliano, padre Louis La Nouza, era, mesmo em sua juventude e como leigo, t\u00e3o apaixonado por Jesus Cristo que parecia incapaz de se afastar da presen\u00e7a de seu amado Senhor. Eram tais as alegrias que ele experimentava aqui, que seu diretor, para moderar sua devo\u00e7\u00e3o, teve que ordenar-lhe, em virtude da obedi\u00eancia, que n\u00e3o permanecesse diante do tabern\u00e1culo por mais de uma hora. Passado o tempo, ele demonstrou, ao obedecer, que, ao se separar do seio de Jesus Cristo, tinha que fazer a si mesmo uma viol\u00eancia t\u00e3o grande quanto a de uma crian\u00e7a que tem que se separar do seio da m\u00e3e no exato momento em que est\u00e1 se saciando com a maior avidez. S\u00e3o Lu\u00eds tamb\u00e9m foi proibido de permanecer na presen\u00e7a do Sant\u00edssimo Sacramento e, quando passava diante do Tabern\u00e1culo, vendo-se atra\u00eddo, por assim dizer, pelos doces atrativos de seu Senhor, e quase for\u00e7ado a permanecer ali, com o maior esfor\u00e7o se afastava, dizendo, em um excesso de amor terno: Afasta-te de mim, Senhor, afasta-te!<\/em>\u00a0 Foi l\u00e1 tamb\u00e9m que S\u00e3o Francisco Xavier encontrou refrig\u00e9rio em meio a seus muitos trabalhos na \u00cdndia, pois empregava seus dias no trabalho pelas almas e passava as noites na presen\u00e7a do Sant\u00edssimo Sacramento.<\/p>

Santa Teresa disse: \"N\u00e3o h\u00e1 melhor ajuda para a perfei\u00e7\u00e3o do que a comunh\u00e3o frequente. Oh, qu\u00e3o admiravelmente o Senhor leva uma alma assim \u00e0 perfei\u00e7\u00e3o!\" E acrescenta que, de modo geral, aqueles que se comunicam com mais frequ\u00eancia s\u00e3o encontrados mais avan\u00e7ados na perfei\u00e7\u00e3o; e que h\u00e1 maior espiritualidade nas comunidades religiosas onde a comunh\u00e3o frequente \u00e9 o costume. \u00c9 por essa raz\u00e3o que, como encontramos declarado em um decreto de Inoc\u00eancio XI, em 1679, os Santos Padres t\u00eam exaltado tanto e promovido tanto a pr\u00e1tica da comunh\u00e3o. comunh\u00e3o frequente e at\u00e9 di\u00e1ria<\/em>. A Santa Comunh\u00e3o, como nos diz o Conc\u00edlio de Trento, nos livra das faltas cotidianas e nos preserva dos pecados mortais. Al\u00e9m disso, n\u00e3o h\u00e1 sacramento t\u00e3o capaz de acender o amor divino nas almas como o Santo Sacramento da Eucaristia, no qual Jesus Cristo nos d\u00e1 todo o seu Ser, a fim de nos unir a si por meio do santo amor. Por isso, o Beato Jo\u00e3o de \u00c1vila disse: \"Quem quer que afaste as almas da comunh\u00e3o frequente faz a obra do dem\u00f4nio\". Sim, pois o dem\u00f4nio tem grande horror a esse Sacramento, do qual as almas obt\u00eam imensa for\u00e7a para avan\u00e7ar no amor divino.<\/p>

Medita\u00e7\u00e3o II:
<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 But a proper preparation is requisite to communicate well. \u00a0The first preparation, or, in other terms, the remote preparation, to be able to go to Communion daily, or several times in the week, is, (1) To keep free from all deliberate affection to sin, that is, to sin committed, as we say, with the eyes open. \u00a0(2) The practice of much mental prayer. \u00a0(3) The mortification of the senses and of the passions. \u00a0St. Francis de Sales teaches as follows \u201cWhoever has overcome the greatest part of his bad inclinations, and has arrived at a notable degree of perfection, can communicate every day.\u201d\u00a0 The angelic Doctor, St. Thomas, says that anyone who knows by experience that his soul derives an increase of Divine love from Holy Communion, may communicate daily. \u00a0Hence Innocent XI, in the above-mentioned decree, said that the greater or less frequency of Holy Communion must rest on the decision of the Confessor, who ought to be guided in this matter by the profit which he sees accrue to the souls under his direction.\u00a0 In the next place, the proximate preparation for Communion is that which is made on the morning itself of Communion, for which there is need of at least half an hour\u2019s mental prayer.*
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 To reap also more abundant fruit from Communion, we must make a good thanksgiving. \u00a0Blessed John of Avila said that the time after Communion is \u201ca time to gain treasures of graces. \u00a0St. Mary Magdalen de Pazzi used to say that no time can be more calculated to inflame us with Divine love than the time immediately after our Communion. \u00a0And St. Teresa says: \u201cAfter Communion let us be careful not to lose so good an opportunity of negotiating with God. \u00a0His Divine Majesty is not accustomed to pay badly for His lodging, if He meets with a good reception.\u201d<\/p>

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Santa Teresa costumava dizer que neste mundo \u00e9 imposs\u00edvel para todos os s\u00faditos falarem com seu rei. Mas todos que desejarem podem encontrar Jesus, o Rei do C\u00e9u, no Sant\u00edssimo Sacramento, e podem falar com Ele sem restri\u00e7\u00f5es.<\/p>

Medita\u00e7\u00e3o I:
<\/b>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Santa Teresa costumava dizer que, neste mundo, \u00e9 imposs\u00edvel para todos os s\u00faditos falarem com seu rei. O m\u00e1ximo que os pobres podem esperar \u00e9 transmitir o que t\u00eam a dizer a ele por meio de uma terceira pessoa. Mas para falar Contigo, \u00f3 Rei do C\u00e9u, n\u00e3o h\u00e1 necessidade de uma terceira pessoa. Todos que desejarem podem Te encontrar no Santo Sacramento e falar contigo, sem restri\u00e7\u00f5es. Por essa raz\u00e3o, diz o mesmo santo, Jesus ocultou Sua majestade sob a apar\u00eancia de p\u00e3o, para nos dar confian\u00e7a e tirar de n\u00f3s todo o medo de nos aproximarmos Dele. Ah! como Jesus exclama de hora em hora de nossos altares: Vinde a mim, todos os que estais cansados e sobrecarregados, e eu vos aliviarei<\/em>. \u2014 (Matt. xi. 28).\u00a0 Come, He says to us \u2013 come, ye poor; come, ye infirm; come, ye afflicted; come, ye just and sinners, and you shall find in Me a remedy for all your losses and afflictions.\u00a0 Such is the desire of Jesus Christ to console all who have recourse to Him.\u00a0 He remains night and day upon our altars that He may be found by all, and may bestow His favours upon all.

<\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0The Saints here in this world experienced such delight in remaining before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament that days and nights appeared to them but as moments. \u00a0The Countess of Feria, having become a Poor Clare, was never wearied remaining in the choir in sight of the tabernacle.\u00a0 Being one day asked what she was doing so long before the Blessed Sacrament, she answered with surprise: \u201cWhat was I doing before the Blessed Sacrament \u2013 what was I doing? \u00a0I was thanking, loving, and asking!\u201d\u00a0 St. Philip Neri, at the sight of the Blessed Sacrament, exclaimed: \u201cBehold my Love! \u00a0Behold all my Love!\u201d\u00a0 Ah! if Jesus Christ were our whole love, our days and nights in His presence would also appear as moments.

Leitura espiritual: \u00a0VISITANDO JESUS NO SANT\u00cdSSIMO SACRAMENTO<\/em><\/strong><\/p>

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0S\u00e3o Jo\u00e3o R\u00e9gis tinha o costume de visitar Jesus no Sant\u00edssimo Sacramento com frequ\u00eancia. \u00c0s vezes, por\u00e9m, encontrando a igreja fechada, ele satisfazia seus anseios permanecendo de joelhos do lado de fora da porta, exposto \u00e0 chuva e ao frio, para que, pelo menos \u00e0 dist\u00e2ncia, pudesse prestar homenagem ao seu Consolador, oculto sob os v\u00e9us sacramentais. S\u00e3o Francisco de Assis costumava conversar sobre todos os seus trabalhos e empreendimentos com Jesus no Sant\u00edssimo Sacramento. Mas talvez a devo\u00e7\u00e3o de S\u00e3o Venceslau, duque da Bo\u00eamia, ao Sant\u00edssimo Sacramento tenha sido mais terna do que qualquer outra. Esse santo rei era t\u00e3o apaixonado pela presen\u00e7a de Jesus que n\u00e3o apenas colhia o trigo e as uvas, fazia as h\u00f3stias e o vinho com as pr\u00f3prias m\u00e3os e depois os dava para serem usados no Santo Sacrif\u00edcio, mas tamb\u00e9m costumava, mesmo durante o inverno, ir \u00e0 noite visitar a igreja na qual o Sant\u00edssimo Sacramento era guardado. Essas visitas acendiam em sua alma tais chamas de amor divino que o ardor se transmitia at\u00e9 mesmo a seu corpo e tirava da neve sobre a qual caminhava o frio habitual. Conta-se que o servo que o acompanhava, e que tinha de caminhar sobre a neve, sofria muito com o frio. O santo rei, ao perceber isso, teve compaix\u00e3o e ordenou que ele o seguisse e pisasse somente nas marcas de seus p\u00e9s. Ele fez isso e nunca mais sentiu frio.
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0No Visitas<\/em>Em seu livro \"O amor de Deus\", voc\u00ea ler\u00e1 outros exemplos da terna afei\u00e7\u00e3o com que as almas inflamadas pelo amor de Deus ansiavam por permanecer na presen\u00e7a do Sant\u00edssimo Sacramento. Certamente, entre todas as devo\u00e7\u00f5es, exceto a de receber os Sacramentos, a adora\u00e7\u00e3o a Jesus no Sant\u00edssimo Sacramento ocupa o primeiro lugar. \u00c9 a mais agrad\u00e1vel a Deus e a mais \u00fatil para n\u00f3s mesmos. Ent\u00e3o, \u00f3 alma devota, n\u00e3o se recuse a come\u00e7ar essa devo\u00e7\u00e3o; deixe a conversa dos homens e permane\u00e7a todos os dias, de agora em diante, por meia hora, ou pelo menos um quarto de hora, em alguma igreja, na presen\u00e7a de Jesus Cristo sob as esp\u00e9cies sacramentais.\u00a0 Prove e veja como o Senhor \u00e9 doce<\/em>. Fa\u00e7a um teste e, por experi\u00eancia, voc\u00ea aprender\u00e1 o grande benef\u00edcio que obter\u00e1 com essa devo\u00e7\u00e3o. Esteja certo de que o tempo assim gasto com devo\u00e7\u00e3o diante desse Divin\u00edssimo Sacramento ser\u00e1 o mais proveitoso para voc\u00ea na vida e a fonte de seu maior consolo na morte e na eternidade. E voc\u00ea deve saber que em um quarto de hora de ora\u00e7\u00e3o na presen\u00e7a do Sant\u00edssimo Sacramento, voc\u00ea pode ganhar mais do que em todos os outros exerc\u00edcios espirituais do dia. \u00c9 verdade que em todos os lugares Deus ouve os pedidos daqueles que oram a Ele, tendo prometido faz\u00ea-lo.\u00a0 Pe\u00e7a e voc\u00ea receber\u00e1<\/em>. \u2014 (John xvi. 24).\u00a0 Yet O disc\u00edpulo<\/em> nos diz que Jesus dispensa Suas gra\u00e7as em maior abund\u00e2ncia \u00e0queles que O visitam no Sant\u00edssimo Sacramento. O Beato Henrique Suso tamb\u00e9m costumava dizer que Jesus Cristo ouve as ora\u00e7\u00f5es dos fi\u00e9is mais graciosamente no Sacramento do Altar do que em qualquer outro lugar. E onde, de fato, as almas santas fizeram suas mais belas resolu\u00e7\u00f5es, sen\u00e3o prostradas diante do Sant\u00edssimo Sacramento? Quem sabe se um dia, na presen\u00e7a do Tabern\u00e1culo, voc\u00ea tamb\u00e9m pode tomar a resolu\u00e7\u00e3o de se entregar inteiramente a Deus? Neste pequeno livro, sinto-me obrigado, pelo menos por gratid\u00e3o a meu Jesus no Santo Sacramento, a declarar que, por meio dessa devo\u00e7\u00e3o de visit\u00e1-Lo, que pratiquei, embora com tanta tepidez e de maneira t\u00e3o imperfeita, abandonei o mundo, no qual, infelizmente, vivi at\u00e9 os seis e vinte anos de idade. Voc\u00ea ser\u00e1 realmente afortunado se conseguir se desligar dele mais cedo e se entregar sem reservas ao Senhor que se entregou sem reservas a voc\u00ea. Repito, aben\u00e7oado de fato voc\u00ea ser\u00e1, n\u00e3o apenas na eternidade, mas tamb\u00e9m nesta vida. Oh, como \u00e9 doce a alegria de permanecer com f\u00e9 e terna devo\u00e7\u00e3o diante de um altar e conversar familiarmente com Jesus Cristo, que est\u00e1 ali com o prop\u00f3sito expresso de ouvir e atender graciosamente aqueles que v\u00eam visit\u00e1-Lo; pedir-Lhe perd\u00e3o pelo desagrado que Lhe causamos; colocar diante Dele nossos desejos, como um amigo a um amigo em quem ele deposita toda a sua confian\u00e7a; pedir-Lhe Suas gra\u00e7as, Seu amor, Seu Reino. Mas, acima de tudo, oh, que para\u00edso \u00e9 permanecer fazendo atos de amor para com o Senhor que est\u00e1 no Tabern\u00e1culo, ardendo de amor por n\u00f3s e orando a Seu Pai Eterno por nosso bem-estar. Na verdade, \u00e9 o amor que O mant\u00e9m l\u00e1, assim escondido e desconhecido, embora Ele seja desprezado por almas ingratas. Mas por que dizer mais?\u00a0 Prove e veja<\/em>.<\/p>

XII. OS MEIOS DE EVITAR A MORNID\u00c3O E ALCAN\u00c7AR A PERFEI\u00c7\u00c3O<\/p>

Medita\u00e7\u00e3o I:
<\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0H\u00e1 certas almas pusil\u00e2nimes que, ao serem exortadas a se comunicarem com mais frequ\u00eancia, respondem: \"Mas eu n\u00e3o sou digno\". Mas, meu filho, voc\u00ea n\u00e3o sabe que quanto mais voc\u00ea se abst\u00e9m da comunh\u00e3o, mais indigno voc\u00ea se torna? Porque, privado da Santa Comunh\u00e3o, voc\u00ea ter\u00e1 menos for\u00e7a e cometer\u00e1 muitas faltas. Bem, ent\u00e3o, obede\u00e7a ao seu diretor e seja guiado por ele: as faltas n\u00e3o pro\u00edbem a Santa Comunh\u00e3o, quando n\u00e3o s\u00e3o cometidas com plena vontade; al\u00e9m disso, entre suas falhas, a maior \u00e9 n\u00e3o se submeter ao que seu pai espiritual lhe diz.
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\"Mas em minha vida passada eu era muito ruim.\" E eu respondo que voc\u00ea deve saber que aquele que \u00e9 mais fraco \u00e9 o que mais precisa do m\u00e9dico e do rem\u00e9dio. Talvez voc\u00ea diga: \"Mas meu confessor n\u00e3o me diz para me comunicar com mais frequ\u00eancia\". Se, ent\u00e3o, ele n\u00e3o lhe diz para fazer isso, pe\u00e7a a ele a permiss\u00e3o para se comunicar com mais frequ\u00eancia. Caso ele lhe negue, obede\u00e7a-o; mas, enquanto isso, fa\u00e7a-lhe o pedido. \"Pareceria orgulho.\" Seria orgulho se voc\u00ea desejasse se comunicar contra a vontade dele, mas n\u00e3o quando voc\u00ea pede o consentimento dele com humildade.<\/p>

Medita\u00e7\u00e3o I:
<\/b>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0O amor de Jesus n\u00e3o se contentou em derramar Seu Sangue e dar Sua vida por n\u00f3s em meio a ignom\u00ednias e tormentos, a fim de tornar conhecida Sua afei\u00e7\u00e3o por n\u00f3s; mas, al\u00e9m disso, para nos obrigar ainda mais a am\u00e1-Lo, na noite anterior \u00e0 Sua morte, Ele nos deixaria todo o Seu Ser para ser nosso Alimento na Sagrada Eucaristia. Deus \u00e9 onipotente, mas, tendo se dado a n\u00f3s nesse Sacramento, Ele n\u00e3o tem mais nada a dar. O Conc\u00edlio de Trento diz que Jesus, ao se dar a n\u00f3s na Santa Comunh\u00e3o, derrama sobre n\u00f3s todas as riquezas de Seu amor infinito.\u00a0 Ele derrama, por assim dizer, as riquezas de Seu amor para com os homens<\/em>.
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00d3 meu querido Jesus, o que mais pode fazer para nos fazer am\u00e1-Lo? Oh! faze-nos sentir o excesso de Teu amor ao Te reduzires a alimento para Te unires a n\u00f3s, pecadores. Tu, ent\u00e3o, meu Redentor, tiveste tanto amor por mim que n\u00e3o te recusaste a me dar todo o Teu Ser freq\u00fcentemente na Santa Comunh\u00e3o, e muitas vezes eu tive a baixeza de Te expulsar de minha alma! Mas Tu n\u00e3o desprezar\u00e1s um cora\u00e7\u00e3o contrito e humilde. Leitura espiritual: \u00a0A VISITA A MARIA<\/em><\/strong><\/p>

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0E agora, quanto \u00e0 Visita \u00e0 Sant\u00edssima Virgem, a opini\u00e3o de S\u00e3o Bernardo \u00e9 bem conhecida e comumente aceita: a saber, que Deus n\u00e3o dispensa nenhuma gra\u00e7a a n\u00e3o ser pelas m\u00e3os de Maria: \"Deus quer que n\u00e3o recebamos nada que n\u00e3o passe pelas m\u00e3os de Maria\". Por isso, o padre Su\u00e1rez declara que agora \u00e9 o sentimento da Igreja universal que a intercess\u00e3o de Maria n\u00e3o \u00e9 apenas \u00fatil, mas at\u00e9 mesmo necess\u00e1ria para obter gra\u00e7as. E podemos observar que a Igreja nos d\u00e1 fortes bases para essa cren\u00e7a, aplicando as palavras da Sagrada Escritura a Maria, e fazendo-a dizer: Em mim est\u00e1 toda a esperan\u00e7a de vida e de virtude. Vinde a mim todos v\u00f3s que me desejais<\/em>. \u2014 (Ecclus. xxiv. 25, 26).\u00a0 Let all come to me; for I am the hope of all that you can desire.\u00a0 Hence she adds: Bem-aventurado o homem que me ouve, e que diariamente vigia \u00e0s minhas portas, e espera junto aos umbrais das minhas portas<\/em>. \u2014 (Prov. viii. 34).\u00a0 Blessed is he who is diligent in coming every day to the door of my powerful intercession, for by finding me he will find life and eternal salvation: Aquele que me achar achar\u00e1 a vida e ter\u00e1 a salva\u00e7\u00e3o do Senhor<\/em>. \u2014 (Prov. viii. 35).\u00a0 Hence it is not without reason that the Church wills that we should call Mary our common hope, by saluting her with the words: “Hail, our hope!”

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0No pequeno livro do Padre Auriemma, Afjetti Scambievoli<\/em>Em sua carta, lemos sobre in\u00fameros favores concedidos pela M\u00e3e de Deus \u00e0queles que praticavam essa devo\u00e7\u00e3o muito proveitosa de visit\u00e1-la com frequ\u00eancia em suas igrejas ou diante de sua imagem.
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Ent\u00e3o, tenha tamb\u00e9m o cuidado de sempre juntar \u00e0 sua visita di\u00e1ria ao Sant\u00edssimo Sacramento uma visita \u00e0 Sant\u00edssima Virgem Maria em alguma igreja ou, pelo menos, diante de uma imagem devota dela em sua pr\u00f3pria casa. Santo Andr\u00e9 de Creta diz que Maria sempre concede grandes dons \u00e0queles que lhe oferecem at\u00e9 mesmo o menor ato de homenagem.<\/p>

Comunh\u00e3o espiritual durante a visita<\/em><\/p>

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Como sugerido nas seguintes visitas ao Sant\u00edssimo Sacramento para fazer um Comunh\u00e3o espiritual<\/em> Depois de cada uma, ser\u00e1 bom explicar o que \u00e9 uma Comunh\u00e3o Espiritual e as grandes vantagens de faz\u00ea-la. A Comunh\u00e3o espiritual<\/em>De acordo com S\u00e3o Tom\u00e1s, consiste em um desejo ardente de receber Jesus no Sant\u00edssimo Sacramento e em abra\u00e7\u00e1-Lo com amor, como se O tiv\u00e9ssemos recebido de fato.
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0O quanto as Comunh\u00f5es Espirituais s\u00e3o agrad\u00e1veis a Deus, e quantas gra\u00e7as Ele concede por meio delas, foi manifestado pelo pr\u00f3prio Nosso Senhor \u00e0 Irm\u00e3 Paula Maresca, fundadora do Convento de Santa Catarina de Siena, em N\u00e1poles. Em sua vida, ela conta que Nosso Senhor lhe mostrou dois vasos preciosos, um de ouro e outro de prata. Ele ent\u00e3o lhe disse que no vaso de ouro Ele preservava suas Comunh\u00f5es Sacramentais, e no de prata suas Comunh\u00f5es Sacramentais. Comunh\u00f5es Espirituais<\/em>. Ele tamb\u00e9m disse \u00e0 Beata Joana da Cruz que, toda vez que ela se comunicava espiritualmente, recebia uma gra\u00e7a semelhante \u00e0quela que recebia quando realmente se comunicava. Mas para n\u00f3s \u00e9 suficiente saber que o santo Conc\u00edlio de Trento elogia muito Comunh\u00e3o espiritual<\/em>e incentiva os fi\u00e9is a pratic\u00e1-lo.
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Por isso, as almas devotas est\u00e3o acostumadas a fazer uso desse santo exerc\u00edcio de Comunh\u00e3o espiritual<\/em>. A Beata \u00c1gata da Cruz fazia isso duzentas vezes por dia. O Padre Pedro Faber, o primeiro companheiro de Santo In\u00e1cio, costumava dizer que era da maior utilidade fazer as Comunh\u00f5es Espirituais, a fim de receber bem a Comunh\u00e3o Sacramental.
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Portanto, todos os que desejam progredir no amor de Jesus Cristo s\u00e3o exortados a fazer uma Comunh\u00e3o Espiritual pelo menos uma vez em cada visita que fizerem ao Sant\u00edssimo Sacramento e uma vez em cada missa que ouvirem. Melhor ainda, nessas ocasi\u00f5es, repetir as Comunh\u00f5es Espirituais tr\u00eas vezes, ou seja, no in\u00edcio, no meio e no fim. Essa devo\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e9 muito mais proveitosa do que alguns sup\u00f5em e, ao mesmo tempo, nada pode ser mais f\u00e1cil de praticar. A supracitada Joana da Cruz costumava dizer que uma Comunh\u00e3o Espiritual pode ser feita sem que ningu\u00e9m perceba, sem estar em jejum, sem a permiss\u00e3o de nosso diretor, e que podemos faz\u00ea-la a qualquer momento que quisermos; um ato de amor faz tudo.<\/p>

Medita\u00e7\u00e3o noturna:\u00a0\u00a0A PR\u00c1TICA DO AMOR DE JESUS CRISTO\u00a0<\/i><\/strong><\/p>

XIII. OS MEIOS DE EVITAR A MORNID\u00c3O E ALCAN\u00c7AR A PERFEI\u00c7\u00c3O<\/p>

Medita\u00e7\u00e3o I:
<\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Ai de mim, meu Deus, quantas almas, por n\u00e3o se aplicarem a levar uma vida de maior recolhimento e mais desapego das coisas terrenas, n\u00e3o se preocupam em receber a Sagrada Comunh\u00e3o! E esta \u00e9 a verdadeira causa de n\u00e3o quererem se comunicar com frequ\u00eancia. Sabem bem que querer aparecer sempre, vestir-se com vaidade, gostar de comer e beber bem, de comodidades corporais, de conversas e divertimentos, n\u00e3o se harmoniza com a comunh\u00e3o frequente; sabem que \u00e9 preciso mais ora\u00e7\u00e3o, mais mortifica\u00e7\u00e3o, tanto interna como externa, mais reclus\u00e3o; e por isso t\u00eam vergonha de se aproximar do altar com mais frequ\u00eancia. Sem d\u00favida, tais almas t\u00eam raz\u00e3o em abster-se da comunh\u00e3o frequente enquanto se encontrarem nesse infeliz estado de tibieza; mas quem quer que seja chamado a uma vida mais perfeita deve deixar de lado essa tibieza, se n\u00e3o quiser arriscar grandemente sua salva\u00e7\u00e3o eterna.<\/p>

Medita\u00e7\u00e3o II:

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0S\u00e3o Paulo diz que Deus, ao se tornar Homem, mostrou ao mundo at\u00e9 onde ia Sua bondade e benevol\u00eancia para conosco. Mas, ao se entregar a n\u00f3s no Sant\u00edssimo Sacramento, Ele nos faz conhecer as profundezas da ternura de Seu amor por n\u00f3s. N\u00e3o parece loucura, diz Santo Agostinho, que Jesus nos diga: Coma minha carne, beba meu sangue?<\/em><\/p>

Medita\u00e7\u00e3o I:
<\/b>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Jesus, knowing that his hour was come, that he should pass out of this world to the Father; having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them unto the end<\/em>. \u2014 (John xiii. 1).\u00a0 Jesus, knowing that the time of His death was near, desired to leave us the strongest pledge of His love for us, and this was the gift of the Blessed Sacrament: Ele os amou at\u00e9 o fim<\/em> \u2013 which St. Chrysostom explains: \u201cHe loved them with extreme love.\u201d He, therefore, loved men with the greatest love He could possibly entertain towards them by giving them His whole Self.\u00a0 But when was it that Jesus instituted this great Sacrament?\u00a0 The night before His death.\u00a0 O Senhor Jesus<\/em>diz o Ap\u00f3stolo, na mesma noite em que foi tra\u00eddo, tomou o p\u00e3o e, dando gra\u00e7as, o partiu e disse: Tomai e comei - isto \u00e9 o meu corpo<\/em>. \u2014 (1 Cor. xi. 23, 24).\u00a0 While men were preparing to put Him to death, He was pleased to give them this last proof of His love.
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00d3 infinito amor de Jesus, Tu \u00e9s digno de ser amado com um amor infinito! Tu, meu Senhor, amaste tanto o homem, e como \u00e9 que o homem Te ama t\u00e3o pouco? O que mais poderia fazer para que ele Te amasse? \u00d3 meu Jesus, Tu \u00e9s muito am\u00e1vel e amoroso; faze-Te conhecido, faze-Te amado. Quando poderei am\u00e1-Lo como o Senhor me amou? Descubra-me cada vez mais a grandeza de Tua bondade, para que eu possa sempre arder mais e mais com Teu amor e sempre procurar agradar-Te.<\/p>

Medita\u00e7\u00e3o II:
<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The marks of affection which are shown to us by our friends at the time of their death remain more deeply impressed on our hearts; and for this reason did Jesus choose to bestow Himself upon us in the Blessed Sacrament, a little before His death. \u00a0Well, therefore, might St. Thomas call this Sacrament \u201cthe Sacrament of love and pledge of tenderest affection\u201d; and St. Bernard, \u201cthe love of loves\u201d \u2013 \u201camor amorum\u201d \u2013<\/em>\u00a0because Jesus Christ in this Sacrament unites and comprises all the other marks of His love towards us. \u00a0Hence St. Mary Magdalen de Pazzi, speaking of the day on which Jesus instituted this Sacrament, calls it \u201cthe day of love.\u201d

Por fim, meu querido Salvador, uno todas as minhas afei\u00e7\u00f5es \u00e0s afei\u00e7\u00f5es de Teu Cora\u00e7\u00e3o amoros\u00edssimo; e as ofere\u00e7o, assim unidas, ao Teu Pai Eterno, e suplico a Ele em Teu Nome que se digne, por Teu amor, aceit\u00e1-las e conced\u00ea-las.\u00a0 (Indulg\u00eancia de 300 dias de cada vez; Plen\u00e1rio uma vez por m\u00eas).<\/em><\/p>

PRIMEIRA VISITA<\/p>

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Contemplem a fonte de todo bem, Jesus no Sant\u00edssimo Sacramento, que diz, Se algu\u00e9m tem sede, venha a mim<\/em>. \u2014 (John vii. 37).\u00a0 Oh, what torrents of grace have the Saints drawn from the fountain of the Most Blessed Sacrament!\u00a0 For there Jesus dispenses all the merits of His Passion, as it was foretold by the Prophet: Voc\u00ea tirar\u00e1 \u00e1guas com alegria das fontes do Salvador<\/em>. \u2014 (Is. xii. 3).\u00a0 The Countess of Feria, that illustrious disciple of the Blessed John of Avila, afterwards a Poor Clare, and surnamed the spouse of the Most Blessed Sacrament, from her long and frequent visits to It, on being asked how she employed the many hours thus passed in the presence of the Holy of Holies, replied: \u201cI could remain there for all eternity.\u00a0 And is not the very Essence of God, which will be the food of the blessed, there present?\u00a0 Good God!\u00a0 Am I asked what I do in His presence?\u00a0 Why am I not rather asked, what is not done there?\u00a0 We love, we praise, we give thanks, we ask.\u00a0 What does a poor man do in the presence of one who is rich?\u00a0 What does a sick man do in the presence of his physician?\u00a0 What does a man do who is parched with thirst in the presence of a limpid fountain?\u00a0 What is the occupation of one who is starving, and is placed before a well-supplied table?\u201d

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Venha, ent\u00e3o, Senhor, venha e tome posse de meu cora\u00e7\u00e3o; feche suas portas para sempre, para que daqui em diante nenhuma criatura possa entrar para dividir o amor que \u00e9 devido a Ti, e que \u00e9 meu desejo ardente de conceder todo a Ti. Somente Tu, meu querido Redentor, me governas; somente Tu possuis todo o meu ser; e se alguma vez eu n\u00e3o Te obedecer perfeitamente, castiga-me com rigor para que daqui em diante eu possa ser mais vigilante para agradar-Te como desejas. Conceda-me que eu n\u00e3o busque mais nenhum outro prazer al\u00e9m de Te dar prazer: que todo o meu prazer seja visit\u00e1-Lo freq\u00fcentemente em Teus altares, entreter-me Contigo e receb\u00ea-Lo na Santa Comunh\u00e3o. Que todos os que quiserem busquem outros tesouros: o \u00fanico tesouro que amo, o \u00fanico que desejo, \u00e9 o tesouro de Teu amor; somente por ele implorarei aos p\u00e9s do altar. Faze com que eu me esque\u00e7a de mim mesmo, para que assim eu possa me lembrar apenas de Tua bondade. Bem-aventurado Serafim, eu o invejo, n\u00e3o por sua gl\u00f3ria, mas pelo amor que voc\u00ea tem ao seu Deus e ao meu; oh, voc\u00ea me ensina o que devo fazer para am\u00e1-Lo e agrad\u00e1-Lo.<\/p>

UM ATO DE COMUNH\u00c3O ESPIRITUAL<\/p>

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Meu Jesus, creio que o Senhor est\u00e1 realmente presente no Sant\u00edssimo Sacramento. Eu Te amo acima de todas as coisas e desejo possuir-Te em minha alma. Como n\u00e3o posso Te receber agora sacramentalmente<\/em>, venha pelo menos espiritualmente<\/em> em meu cora\u00e7\u00e3o. Eu Te abra\u00e7o como se j\u00e1 estivesse l\u00e1, e me uno totalmente a Ti; nunca permita que eu me separe de Ti.<\/p>

VISITA A MARIA<\/p>

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0In our Mother Mary we have another fountain which is indeed fruitful for us.\u00a0 She is so rich in good things and in graces, says St. Bernard, that there is no one in the world who does not participate in them: \u201cOf her fulness we have all received.\u201d The Most Blessed Virgin Mary was filled by God with grace, and as such was saluted by the Angel, Salve, cheio de gra\u00e7a!<\/em> \u2014 (Luke i. 28), not for herself alone, but also for us.\u00a0 St. Peter Chrysologus adds, that she received that great abyss of grace, that she might afterwards impart it to all who were devout to her: \u201cThe Blessed Virgin received this grace, that she might give in return salvation to all.\u201d<\/p>

ORA\u00c7\u00c3O DE CONCLUS\u00c3O<\/p>

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Sant\u00edssima Virgem Imaculada e minha M\u00e3e Maria, a v\u00f3s, que sois a M\u00e3e de meu Senhor e Rainha do mundo, a advogada, a esperan\u00e7a e o ref\u00fagio dos pecadores, recorro hoje - eu, que sou o mais miser\u00e1vel de todos. Rendo-lhe minha mais humilde homenagem, \u00f3 grande Rainha, e agrade\u00e7o-lhe por todas as gra\u00e7as que me concedeu at\u00e9 agora, especialmente por ter me livrado do inferno, que tantas vezes mereci. Eu a amo, amant\u00edssima Senhora, e pelo amor que lhe tenho, prometo servi-la sempre e fazer tudo o que estiver ao meu alcance para que outros tamb\u00e9m a amem. Coloco em V\u00f3s todas as minhas esperan\u00e7as; confio minha salva\u00e7\u00e3o aos vossos cuidados. Aceite-me como seu servo e receba-me sob seu manto, \u00f3 M\u00e3e de Miseric\u00f3rdia. E j\u00e1 que sois t\u00e3o poderosa junto a Deus, livrai-me de todas as tenta\u00e7\u00f5es, ou melhor, obtende-me a for\u00e7a para triunfar sobre elas at\u00e9 a morte. De v\u00f3s pe\u00e7o um perfeito amor a Jesus Cristo. XV. OS MEIOS DE EVITAR A MORNID\u00c3O E ALCAN\u00c7AR A PERFEI\u00c7\u00c3O<\/p>

Medita\u00e7\u00e3o I:
<\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Os santos padres dizem que a ora\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e9 necess\u00e1ria para n\u00f3s, n\u00e3o apenas como um necessidade de preceito<\/em> (de modo que os divinos dizem que aquele que negligencia por um m\u00eas recomendar a Deus o assunto de sua salva\u00e7\u00e3o n\u00e3o est\u00e1 isento de pecado mortal), mas tamb\u00e9m como um necessidade de meios<\/em>, which is as much as to say, that whoever does not pray cannot possibly be saved.\u00a0 And the reason of it is, in short, because we cannot obtain eternal salvation without the help of Divine grace, and this grace Almighty God only accords to those who pray.\u00a0 And because temptations, and the dangers of falling into God’s displeasure, continually beset us, so ought our prayers to be continual.\u00a0 Hence St. Thomas declares that continual prayer is necessary for a man to save himself: \u201cUnceasing prayer is necessary to man that he may enter Heaven.\u201d And Jesus Christ Himself had already said the same thing: Devemos sempre orar e n\u00e3o desanimar<\/em>. \u2014 (Luke xviii. 1).\u00a0 And afterwards the Apostle: Orar sem cessar<\/em>. \u2014 (Thess. v. 17).\u00a0 During the interval in which we shall cease to pray, the devil will conquer us.\u00a0 And though the grace of perseverance can in no wise be merited by us, as the Council of Trent teaches us, nevertheless St. Augustine says, \u201cthat in a certain sense we can merit it by prayer.\u201d The Lord wishes to dispense His grace to us, but He will be entreated first; nay more, as St. Gregory remarks, He wills to be importuned, and in a manner constrained by our prayers: \u201cGod wishes to be prayed to, \u2013 He wishes to be compelled \u2013 He wishes to be, as it were, vanquished by our importunity.\u201d<\/p>

<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 To allure us to receive Him with affection and love, He promises Heaven to us: If any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever. <\/em>\u2014 (John vi. 52). \u00a0And if we refuse to receive Him He threatens us with death: Except you eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood you shall not have life in you. <\/em>\u2014 (John vi. 54). \u00a0These invitations, promises, and threats, all arise from the desire of Jesus Christ to be united with us in the Holy Communion through His love for us. \u00a0Our Lord said to St. Mechtilde that the bee does not take the honey with more eagerness of delight, than He enters the souls that desire Him. \u00a0Jesus because He loves us, desires that we should love Him; and because He desires us He would have us desire Him: \u201cGod thirsts to be thirsted after,\u201d says St. Gregory.\u00a0 Happy the soul that approaches the Holy Communion with a great desire of being united to Jesus Christ.

XVI. OS MEIOS DE EVITAR A MORNID\u00c3O E ALCAN\u00c7AR A PERFEI\u00c7\u00c3O<\/p>

Medita\u00e7\u00e3o I:
<\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0E tenhamos muita f\u00e9 na ora\u00e7\u00e3o. Deus prometeu ouvir aquele que orar: Pe\u00e7a, e voc\u00ea receber\u00e1<\/em>. Como podemos duvidar, diz Santo Agostinho, j\u00e1 que Deus se obrigou por promessa expressa e n\u00e3o pode deixar de nos conceder os favores que Lhe pedimos? \"Ao prometer, Ele se fez nosso devedor\". Ao nos recomendarmos a Deus, devemos ter uma confian\u00e7a segura de que Deus nos ouve, e ent\u00e3o obteremos o que quisermos. Veja o que Jesus Cristo diz: Tudo o que pedirdes quando orardes, crede que recebereis, e vos ser\u00e1 concedido<\/em>. \u2014 (Mark xi. 24).
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\"Mas\", algu\u00e9m pode dizer, \"eu sou um pecador e n\u00e3o mere\u00e7o ser ouvido\". Mas Jesus Cristo diz: Todo aquele que pede, recebe<\/em>. \u2014 (Luke xi. 10).\u00a0 Every one, be he just or be he a sinner.\u00a0 St. Thomas teaches us that the efficacy of prayer to obtain grace does not depend on our merits, but on the mercy of God, Who has promised to hear everyone who prays to Him.<\/p>

Medita\u00e7\u00e3o II:
<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 And our Redeemer, in order to remove from us all fear when we pray, said: Amen, amen, I say to you, if you shall ask the Father anything in my name he will give it you. \u2014 <\/em>(John xvi. 23). \u00a0As though He would say: Sinners, you have no merits of your own to obtain graces, wherefore act in this manner; when you would obtain graces, ask them of My Father in My Name; that is, through My merits and through My love; and then ask as many as you choose, and they shall be granted to you. \u00a0But let us mark well these words, \u201cIn my Name,\u201d which signify (as St. Thomas explains it), \u201cin the Name of the Saviour\u201d; or, in other words, that the graces which we ask must be graces which regard our eternal salvation; and consequently we must remark that the promise does not regard temporal favours; these our Lord grants when they are profitable for our eternal welfare; if they would prove otherwise, He refuses them.\u00a0 So that we should always ask for temporal favours on condition that they will benefit our soul. \u00a0But should they be spiritual graces, then they require no condition; but with confidence, and a sure confidence, we should say: \u201cEternal Father, in the Name of Jesus Christ, deliver me from this temptation: grant me perseverance, grant me. \u00a0Thy love, grant me Heaven.\u201d \u00a0We can likewise ask these graces of Jesus Christ in His own Name; that is, by His merits, since we have His promise also to this effect: If you shall ask me anything in my name, that I will do. \u2014 <\/em>(John xiv. 14). \u00a0And whilst we pray to God, let us not forget to recommend ourselves at the same time to Mary, the dispenser of graces. \u00a0St. Bernard says that it is Almighty God Who bestows the graces; but He bestows them through the hands of Mary: \u201cLet us seek grace, and let us seek it through Mary; because what she seeks she finds, and cannot be refused.\u201d \u00a0If Mary prays for us, we are safe; for every petition of Mary is heard, and she can never meet with a repulse.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
