\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0N\u00e3o temos aqui uma cidade duradoura, mas buscamos uma que est\u00e1 por vir<\/em>. Neste mundo, n\u00e3o somos cidad\u00e3os, mas peregrinos, pois estamos a caminho da eternidade.\u00a0 O homem entrar\u00e1 na casa de sua eternidade<\/em>.<\/p>

Medita\u00e7\u00e3o I:
<\/b>\u00a0 \u00a0 N\u00e3o temos aqui uma cidade duradoura, mas buscamos uma que est\u00e1 por vir<\/em>. - (Heb. xiii., 14). Neste mundo, n\u00e3o somos cidad\u00e3os, mas peregrinos, pois estamos a caminho da eternidade:\u00a0 O homem entrar\u00e1 na casa de sua eternidade<\/em>. - (Eccles. xii., 5).
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Muito em breve, portanto, teremos de deixar este mundo. O corpo logo deve ir para a sepultura e a alma para a eternidade.
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0N\u00e3o seria esse viajante culpado de grande insensatez se desperdi\u00e7asse seu tempo e sua riqueza construindo uma casa em um lugar que logo deixar\u00e1?
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00d3 meu Deus, minha alma \u00e9 eterna; devo, ent\u00e3o, desfrutar de Ti ou perder-Te para a eternidade.
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Na eternidade, h\u00e1 dois lugares de morada - um transbordando de todos os prazeres e o outro repleto de todos os tormentos. E esses prazeres e tormentos ser\u00e3o eternos.\u00a0 Se a \u00e1rvore cair para o sul ou para o norte, em qualquer lugar em que cair, ali ficar\u00e1.<\/em>. - (Eccles. xi., 3). \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Qual dessas moradas caber\u00e1 a cada um de n\u00f3s? Aquela que cada um escolher voluntariamente.\u00a0 O homem deve ir - Ibit homo<\/em>. Aquele que vai para o inferno vai por sua pr\u00f3pria vontade. Todo aquele que \u00e9 condenado, \u00e9 condenado porque deseja sua pr\u00f3pria condena\u00e7\u00e3o.

AQUELE QUE AMA JESUS CRISTO SUPORTA TODAS AS COISAS POR ELE, ESPECIALMENTE A DOEN\u00c7A, A POBREZA E O DESPREZO<\/p>

Medita\u00e7\u00e3o I:
<\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Mas por que o Deus Todo-Poderoso nos carrega com tantas cruzes e tem prazer em nos ver aflitos, injuriados, perseguidos e maltratados pelo mundo? Por acaso Ele \u00e9 um tirano, cuja disposi\u00e7\u00e3o cruel O faz se alegrar com nosso sofrimento? N\u00e3o; Deus n\u00e3o \u00e9 de forma alguma um tirano, nem cruel; Ele \u00e9 todo compaix\u00e3o e amor para conosco; basta dizer que Ele morreu por n\u00f3s. De fato, Ele se regozija com nosso sofrimento, porque o sofrimento \u00e9 para o nosso bem; na medida em que, ao sofrermos aqui, somos libertados, no futuro, da d\u00edvida de puni\u00e7\u00e3o que nos \u00e9 devida por Sua justi\u00e7a divina; Ele se regozija com nossos sofrimentos porque eles nos afastam dos prazeres sensuais deste mundo: Quando uma m\u00e3e quer desmamar seu filho, ela coloca fel no peito a fim de criar uma avers\u00e3o na crian\u00e7a; Ele se alegra com os sofrimentos porque n\u00f3s Lhe damos, por nossa paci\u00eancia e resigna\u00e7\u00e3o ao suport\u00e1-los, um sinal de nosso amor; enfim, Ele se alegra com eles, porque contribuem para o aumento de nossa gl\u00f3ria no C\u00e9u. Essas s\u00e3o as raz\u00f5es pelas quais o Todo-Poderoso, em Sua compaix\u00e3o e amor por n\u00f3s, fica satisfeito quando sofremos.

Medita\u00e7\u00e3o matinal:\u00a0 NOSSA JORNADA PARA A ETERNIDADE - A INSENSATEZ DAQUELES QUE N\u00c3O A CONSIDERAM<\/em><\/b><\/p>

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00d3 meu Deus, os meses e os anos passam! Estamos nos apressando em dire\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e0 Eternidade e n\u00e3o nos preocupamos em pensar nisso! E quem sabe este pode ser o \u00faltimo aviso que receberei de Deus!<\/p>

Medita\u00e7\u00e3o I:
<\/b>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Ou acreditamos ou n\u00e3o acreditamos. Se n\u00e3o acreditarmos, estaremos fazendo muito por coisas que consideramos f\u00e1bulas. Mas se acreditarmos, ent\u00e3o estaremos fazendo muito pouco para obter uma eternidade feliz e evitar a mis\u00e9ria eterna.
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0O Padre Vincent Carafa disse que se os homens conhecessem completamente as Verdades da Eternidade e comparassem os bens e os males desta vida com os da pr\u00f3xima, a Terra se tornaria um deserto, porque n\u00e3o haveria ningu\u00e9m que se ocupasse dos assuntos deste mundo.
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Quando o \u00faltimo momento estiver pr\u00f3ximo, como tremeremos ao pensar que desse momento depender\u00e1 nossa felicidade ou mis\u00e9ria eterna!
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00d3 meu Deus, os meses e os anos passam! Estamos nos aproximando da eternidade e n\u00e3o nos preocupamos em pensar nisso! E quem sabe se este ano ou m\u00eas n\u00e3o ser\u00e1 o \u00faltimo? Quem sabe se este n\u00e3o ser\u00e1 o \u00faltimo aviso que receberei de Deus?
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00d3 meu Deus, n\u00e3o abusarei mais de Suas gra\u00e7as! Eis que estou pronto! Faze-me saber o que queres que eu fa\u00e7a, e em todas as coisas Te obedecerei.
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0E por que dever\u00edamos demorar depois de tantas luzes e apelos de Deus, a menos que desejemos nos lamentar com os condenados, dizendo: O ver\u00e3o acabou, e n\u00e3o estamos salvos<\/em>. - (Jer. viii., 20). Agora \u00e9 o momento de reconcilia\u00e7\u00e3o com Deus, pois depois da morte n\u00e3o haver\u00e1 mais rem\u00e9dio.
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0O padre Jo\u00e3o de \u00c1vila disse, com raz\u00e3o, que os crist\u00e3os que acreditam na vida eterna e vivem distantes de Deus deveriam ser internados em um asilo como loucos.
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0O assunto da eternidade \u00e9 de fato importante. N\u00e3o se trata de saber se habitaremos em uma casa mais ou menos c\u00f4moda ou iluminada, mas se moraremos em um pal\u00e1cio de todas as del\u00edcias ou em um abismo dos mais terr\u00edveis tormentos. \u00c9 se seremos felizes com os santos e anjos, ou se viveremos em desespero com a multid\u00e3o de inimigos de Deus. E por quantos anos? Por mil? N\u00e3o; para sempre, para sempre, enquanto Deus for Deus.
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Se, ent\u00e3o, \u00f3 Deus, eu tivesse morrido em meus pecados, n\u00e3o deveria ter Te perdido para sempre? Se at\u00e9 agora, Senhor, n\u00e3o me perdoaste, perdoa-me agora, eu Te pe\u00e7o. Eu Te amo com toda a minha alma e estou arrependido, acima de qualquer outro mal, por ter Te ofendido. Medita\u00e7\u00e3o I:
<\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Quem ama uma pessoa acredita em tudo o que sai dos l\u00e1bios dessa pessoa; consequentemente, quanto mais uma alma ama Jesus Cristo, mais viva e inabal\u00e1vel \u00e9 sua f\u00e9. Quando o Bom Ladr\u00e3o viu nosso Redentor, embora n\u00e3o tivesse feito nenhum mal, sofrendo a morte na cruz com tanta paci\u00eancia, come\u00e7ou imediatamente a am\u00e1-Lo; sob a influ\u00eancia desse amor e da luz divina que ent\u00e3o irrompeu em sua alma, acreditou que Jesus era verdadeiramente o Filho de Deus e implorou para n\u00e3o ser esquecido por Ele quando passasse para o Seu Reino.
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0A f\u00e9 \u00e9 o fundamento da caridade, mas a f\u00e9 recebe posteriormente sua perfei\u00e7\u00e3o da caridade. Sua f\u00e9 \u00e9 mais perfeita quando o amor a Deus \u00e9 mais perfeito. A Caridade produz no homem n\u00e3o apenas a F\u00e9 do entendimento, mas tamb\u00e9m a F\u00e9 da vontade; aqueles que acreditam apenas com o entendimento, mas n\u00e3o com a vontade, como \u00e9 o caso dos pecadores que est\u00e3o perfeitamente convencidos das Verdades da F\u00e9, mas n\u00e3o escolhem viver de acordo com os Mandamentos Divinos - tais como esses t\u00eam uma F\u00e9 muito fraca; Pois se eles tivessem uma cren\u00e7a mais viva de que a gra\u00e7a de Deus \u00e9 um tesouro inestim\u00e1vel e que o pecado, por nos roubar essa gra\u00e7a, \u00e9 o pior dos males, eles certamente mudariam de vida. Se, ent\u00e3o, eles preferem as criaturas miser\u00e1veis desta terra a Deus, \u00e9 porque n\u00e3o acreditam ou porque sua f\u00e9 \u00e9 muito fraca. Ao contr\u00e1rio, aquele que cr\u00ea n\u00e3o apenas com o entendimento, mas tamb\u00e9m com a vontade, de modo que n\u00e3o apenas cr\u00ea em Deus, mas tem a vontade de crer Nele, o Revelador da verdade, pelo amor que tem por Ele, e se regozija em assim crer - esse tem uma F\u00e9 perfeita e, consequentemente, procura tornar sua vida conforme as verdades em que cr\u00ea.<\/p>

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Caminhada<\/em>diz nosso Divino Senhor, enquanto voc\u00ea tem a luz,<\/em> para, a noite vem quando ningu\u00e9m pode trabalhar<\/em>. Oh, que tormento para o pobre pecador arrependido no final de uma vida descuidada, quando n\u00e3o lhe resta tempo para fazer tudo o que deixou de fazer!<\/p>

S\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o Justiniano diz que os mundanos, na morte, dariam de bom grado todas as suas riquezas para obter apenas mais uma hora de vida. Mas ser\u00e1 dito a eles: O tempo n\u00e3o existir\u00e1 mais<\/em>. - (Apoc. x., 6). Eles ser\u00e3o instru\u00eddos a partir sem demora: V\u00e1 em frente, alma crist\u00e3, para fora deste mundo!
<\/em>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0S\u00e3o Greg\u00f3rio relata que um certo Crisorius, estando \u00e0 beira da morte, gritou para os dem\u00f4nios: \"D\u00eaem-me tempo at\u00e9 amanh\u00e3\". Mas eles responderam: \"Tolo, voc\u00ea j\u00e1 teve tempo, e por que o desperdi\u00e7ou? Agora n\u00e3o h\u00e1 mais tempo para voc\u00ea\".
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Ah, meu Deus, quantos anos eu n\u00e3o desperdicei! O restante de meu tempo ser\u00e1 inteiramente dedicado a Ti. Conceda que Teu santo amor seja abundante em mim, em quem o pecado abundou por tanto tempo.

No inferno, o lamento dos condenados \u00e9: \"Ah, se uma hora nos fosse dada!\" Oh, se tiv\u00e9ssemos apenas uma hora para escapar da ru\u00edna eterna! No C\u00e9u n\u00e3o h\u00e1 choro; mas se os Aben\u00e7oados pudessem chorar, seria pelo pensamento de terem perdido tanto tempo em que poderiam ter adquirido graus mais elevados de gl\u00f3ria.

<\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0E essa frouxid\u00e3o moral \u00e9 a fonte de onde sa\u00edram, e ainda saem diariamente, tantos livros e sistemas de materialistas, indiferentistas, politicistas, de\u00edstas e naturalistas; alguns deles negam a exist\u00eancia de Deus e a Provid\u00eancia Divina, dizendo que Deus, depois de ter criado os homens, n\u00e3o se importa mais com eles e n\u00e3o se importa se eles O amam ou O odeiam, se est\u00e3o salvos ou perdidos; Outros, ainda, negam a bondade de Deus e afirmam que Ele criou in\u00fameras almas para o inferno, tornando-se Ele mesmo seu tentador para o pecado, para que assim possam se condenar e ir para o fogo eterno, para amaldi\u00e7o\u00e1-Lo ali para sempre!
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Oh, a ingratid\u00e3o e a maldade dos homens! Deus os criou em Sua miseric\u00f3rdia, para torn\u00e1-los eternamente felizes no C\u00e9u; derramou sobre eles tantas luzes, benef\u00edcios e gra\u00e7as, para lev\u00e1-los \u00e0 vida eterna; para o mesmo fim, redimiu-os ao pre\u00e7o de tantas tristezas e sofrimentos; e, no entanto, eles se esfor\u00e7am para negar tudo, para que possam dar r\u00e9dea solta \u00e0s suas inclina\u00e7\u00f5es viciosas!<\/p>

<\/b>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0What is mortal sin?\u00a0 According to St. Thomas and St. Augustine, it is a turning-away from God;<\/em> an act of contempt for God’s grace and love, and a throwing-off of all respect for Him, by which the sinner declares to God’s very face: I will not serve Thee!\u00a0 I will act as I please, and, if by so doing, I displease Thee and forfeit Thy friendship, I care not!
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0To understand how great is the malice of mortal sin we must first know who God is, and what a wretched being man is who despises Him.\u00a0 Before God all the Saints and Angels are as nothing, and shall a worm of the earth have the insolence to despise Him?
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0But more than this.\u00a0 Man, by committing sin, not only despises a God of infinite majesty, but a God Who has so loved him as to die for the love of him.\u00a0 An eternity, therefore, would not be sufficient to bewail but one mortal sin.
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0He who commits mortal sin dishonours God by preferring before Him a whim, a fit of passion, a wretched gratification.\u00a0 A God so great and so good!\u00a0 And so dishonoured!

<\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Hope increases Charity, and Charity increases Hope.\u00a0 Hope in the Divine goodness undoubtedly gives an increase to our love of Jesus Christ.\u00a0 St. Thomas says that in the very moment when we hope to receive some benefit from a person, we begin also to love him.\u00a0 On this account, the Lord forbids us to put our trust in creatures: Put not your trust in princes<\/em>. \u2014 (Ps. cxlv., 2).\u00a0 Further, He pronounces a curse on those who do so: Cursed be the man that trusteth in man<\/em>. \u2014 (Jer. xvii., 5).\u00a0 God does not wish us to trust in creatures, because He does not wish us to fix our love upon them.\u00a0 Hence St. Vincent de Paul said: “Let us beware of reposing too much confidence in men; for when God beholds us thus leaning on them for support, He Himself withdraws from us.\u00a0 On the other hand, the more we trust in God, the more we shall advance in His holy love.”\u00a0 I have run the way of thy commandments, when thou didst enlarge my heart<\/em>. \u2014 (Ps. cxviii. 32).\u00a0 Oh, how rapidly does that soul advance in perfection who has her heart dilated with confidence in God!\u00a0 She flies rather than runs; for by making God the foundation of all her Hope she flings aside her own weakness, and borrows the strength of God Himself, which is communicated to all who place confidence in Him: They that hope in the Lord shall renew their strength, and they shall take wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint<\/em>. \u2014 (Is. xl., 31).\u00a0 The eagle is the bird that soars nearest the sun; in like manner, the soul that has God for her trust becomes detached from the earth, and more and more united to God by love.<\/p>

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0The Council of Trent teaches that we cannot persevere in grace without the special assistance of God; but he is quite undeserving of such special assistance who offends God by voluntary venial sins, and without a thought of amendment.
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Chastise me not, O Lord, as I have deserved!\u00a0 Remember not the many offences I have committed against Thee, and deprive me not of Thy light and assistance.\u00a0 I desire to amend; I desire to be Thine.\u00a0 O Omnipotent God, accept of me and change me!\u00a0 This is my hope.
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Our Lord said to Blessed Angela de Foligno: “Those who have been enlightened by Me to aim at perfection, but who debase their souls and walk in the ordinary way, will be abandoned by me.”
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0He who serves God, but is not afraid of offending Him by venial gratifications, would seem to think that God deserves no better.\u00a0 He declares, in fact, that God is not deserving of so much love as to oblige us to prefer His pleasure to our own satisfaction.
\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Habitual defects, says St. Augustine, are a kind of leprosy, which renders the soul so disgusting that God deprives it of His loving embraces.

<\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0The Lord God loves those who love Him: Eu amo aqueles que me amam<\/em>. \u2014 (Prov. viii., 17).\u00a0 He showers down His graces on those that seek Him by love: The Lord is good . . . to the soul that seeketh him<\/em>. \u2014 (Lament. iii., 25).\u00a0 Consequently, the soul that loves God most has the greatest hope in His goodness.\u00a0 This confidence produces that imperturbable tranquility in the Saints which makes them always joyful and full of peace, even amid the severest trials; for their love of Jesus Christ, and the conviction they have of His liberality towards those who love Him, leads them to trust solely in Him; and thus they find a lasting repose.\u00a0 The sacred spouse abounded with delights, because she loved none but her Spouse, and leaned entirely on Him for support; and she was full of contentment, since she well knew how generous her Beloved is towards all that love Him; so that of her it is written: Who is this that cometh up from the desert, flowing with delights, leaning upon her beloved?<\/em> \u2014 (Cant. viii., 5).\u00a0 These words of the Wise Man are most true: All good things came to me together with her<\/em>. \u2014 (Wis. vii., 11).\u00a0 With Charity all blessings are introduced into the soul.<\/p>

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0She certainly assists us as often as we have recourse to her, but this, adds Richard of St. Victor, is not enough for her; she anticipates our supplications, and obtains aid for us before we ask her prayers.\u00a0 Moreover, the same author says that Mary is so full of mercy that, as soon as she sees misery, she instantly obtains relief, and cannot behold any one in distress without coming to his assistance.\u00a0 It was thus she acted when she lived on this earth, as we learn from what happened at the marriage of Cana in Galilee; where, when the wine failed, she did not wait to be asked, but taking pity on the affliction and shame of the spouses, asked her Son to console them, saying: Eles n\u00e3o t\u00eam vinho<\/em>. \u2014 (John ii., 3).\u00a0 Thus she induced Him to change, by miracle, water into wine.\u00a0 But, says St. Bonaventure, if Mary’s compassion for the afflicted was so great while she was in this world, her pity for us is certainly much greater now that she is in Heaven, where she has a better knowledge of our miseries, and greater compassion for us.\u00a0 Novarino adds: If Mary, unasked, shows such readiness to afford relief, how much more careful will she be to console those who ask her prayers!<\/p>
