Dear faithful and friends:
The mystery of the incarnation of the Divinity, His birth in the fragility of our mortal flesh, and His willingness to share with us the works of this life is, without a doubt, the most admirable example through which God showed us that with the help of His paternal guidance it is possible to overcome the difficulties of our pilgrimage through this world.
But not only was it wonderful in itself, that will of the Almighty to come and dwell with us, but it was also overwhelming the way in which He decided to do so. If we go to the Book of Genesis, we can read: “And when they heard the Voice of the Lord God walking in paradise at the afternoon air, Adam and his wife hid themselves from the face of the Lord God, amidst the trees of paradise. And the Lord God called Adam, and said to him: Where art thou? And he said: I heard thy Voice in paradise; and I was afraid, and I hid myself .”
Since then, the steps of the Word of God cause fear in human beings. Prophets and Kings trembled at every theophany, and this was always… always… until the extraordinary moment when the Lord decided to be born as a humble child in a manger in Bethlehem. He came to meet the children of Adam, not walking with heavy steps, but crawling like a baby, and a baby named not with an astonishing name, but with a name that subtly revealed the will of God: His will to save and bring hope to humanity.
That is why St. Alphonsus said: “Christ could, indeed, have appeared upon this earth a full-grown Man, as the first man, Adam, appeared. But the Son of God wished to present Himself under the form of a sweet little Child, that thus He might the more readily and the more forcibly draw to Himself the love of man. ”
Dear brothers and sisters… great joy is this! The Word of God, who walked with Adam in Paradise, came to meet us to save us.
He was the light that shone from the star, He was the Shepherd watching over us, He was the Wisdom for whom the Magi crossed the desert. He is the peace that the world needs; the Savior so that we could live. He is our gift.
Today, in this world, He seems to be alone in the darkness. Let us not abandon Him: He is the reason for our celebration.
May Christ, the Blessed Virgin Mary and Saint Joseph bless and accompany our families, and be for us a perennial source of peace.

El misterio de la encarnación de la Divinidad, su nacimiento en la fragilidad de la carne mortal y su voluntad de compartir con nosotros los trabajos de esta vida es, sin duda, el ejemplo más admirable por medio del cual Dios nos mostró que con la ayuda de su guía paternal es posible vencer las dificultades de nuestro peregrinar por este mundo.
Pero no siendo ya de por si tan maravillosa esa voluntad del Altísimo de venir a morar con nosotros, fue además sobrecogedora la manera en que decidió hacerlo. Si vamos al libro del Génesis, allí podemos leer: “Y cuando oyeron en el aire de la tarde la Voz del Señor Dios que caminaba en el paraíso, Adán y su esposa se escondieron del rostro del Señor Dios, en medio de los árboles del paraíso. Y el Señor Dios llamó a Adán y le dijo: ¿Dónde estás? Y él respondió: Escuché tu Voz caminando en el paraíso; y tuve miedo, y me escondí ”.
Es desde entonces que los pasos del Verbo de Dios causan temor en el ser humano. Profetas y Reyes temblaron ante cada teofanía, y esto fue siempre… siempre… hasta el extraordinario momento en que el Señor decidió nacer como un niño humilde en un pesebre en Belén. Él vino al encuentro de los hijos de Adán, no caminando con pasos fuertes, sino gateando como un bebé, y un bebé llamado no con un nombre asombroso, sino con un nombre que revelaba sutilmente la voluntad de Dios. Su voluntad de salvar y traer esperanza a la humanidad.
Es por ello que San Alfonso decía: “En efecto, Cristo hubiera podido aparecer en esta tierra como un hombre adulto, como apareció el primer hombre, Adán. Pero el Hijo de Dios quiso presentarse bajo la forma de un dulce Niño, para atraer así más fácilmente y con más fuerza hacia Sí el amor de los hombres .”
¡Queridos hermanos… gran alegría es esta! El Verbo de Dios, que caminaba con Adán en el Paraíso vino a nuestro encuentro para salvarnos.
Él era la luz que brillaba de desde la estrella, Él era el Pastor que nos protegía, Él era la Sabiduría por quien los Magos cruzaron el desierto. Él es la paz que el mundo necesita. El Salvador para que pudiésemos vivir. Él es nuestro regalo.
Hoy, en este mundo, Él parece estar solo en la oscuridad, no le dejemos también nosotros abandonado: Él es la razón de nuestra celebración.
Que Cristo, María Santísima y San José bendigan y acompañen a nuestras familias y sean para nosotros perenne fuente de paz.
