MAY 2026 CALENDAR

The May calendar has been posted. We encourage you to notice and appreciate the richness of the meaningful liturgy of the pre-1955 liturgical celebrations, its clarity and encompassing way of presenting –through the hands of the priest– our prayers to the Lord, in unity with all the traditional intentions and orations the Holy Mother Church instructs us to recall in all Masses of the month.  The pre-Bugnini liturgy is, without doubt, the best and most coherent way of defending our traditional Catholic faith in the present time.

Easter season continues throughout the month of May, and the moveable feasts that occur in May this year are: the three Rogation Days on the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday prior to the Ascension (May 26-28); the Feast of the Ascension of Our Lord (May 14), a Holy Day of Obligation that is preceded by a vigil and includes a Privileged Octave of the 2nd Order; and the Feast of Whitsunday (Pentecost) (May 24), which is also preceded by a vigil and includes a Privileged Octave of the 1st Order that contains the summer Ember Days on May 27, 29 and 30, and Trinity Sunday (May 31).

The month of May is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, and several days devoted to her occur in this month, including Our Lady of Pompeii (May 8), Our Lady of Fatima (May 13), Our Lady Queen of Apostles (May 16), and Our Lady Help of Christians (May 24).  May 31 is normally the Double of the 2nd Class Feast of the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary, but this year, because the Feast falls on Trinity Sunday, the liturgical celebration of Our Lady’s Queenship is transferred to June 1.

Last year, the month of May began with a papal conclave that ultimately selected Cardinal Robert Prevost to ascend to the throne as Pope Leo XIV.  On this first anniversary of the Pope’s election, we see that the crisis in Rome continues unabated, and the demands of Heaven articulated by Our Lady of Fatima continue to be ignored.  Therefore, the Society of the Most Holy Redeemer calls upon on all the Angels and Saints to protect and defend Holy Mother Church, and especially those heavenly advocates whose feasts are celebrated this month, including: the Apostles Philip and James (May 1); St. Athanasius (May 2), Pope St. Pius V (May 5), St. John the Evangelist (May 6), St. Michael the Archangel (May 8), and  St. Robert Bellarmine (May 13).  And of course, we pray to St. Joseph, Patron of the Universal Church, and the Blessed Virgin Mary, who we honor always but in an especial way every day of May.
