The “St. Andrew” Christmas Novena

A 25-day novena, the recitation of this prayer begins on the Feast of St. Andrew, November 30, and ends on Christmas Eve, thereby encompassing most, if not all, of the Advent season.  The novena prayer is offered 15 times a day, not necessarily all at one time, and is a pious supplication to God for the fulfillment of a cherished desire.  It is an excellent Advent practice in anticipation of the greatest Gift of all, born for us on Christmas Day.

Hail, and blessed be the hour and moment in which the Son of God was born of the most pure Virgin Mary, at midnight, in Bethlehem, in piercing cold.

In that hour, vouchsafe, O my God! to hear my prayer and grant my desires, through the merits of Our Savior Jesus Christ, and of His Blessed Mother.

Amen.

After completing the fifteenth repetition, conclude with the following prayers:

Let us Pray:

O Lord Jesus Christ, Thou wast pleased so to humble Thyself in Thine incarnate divinity and most sacred humanity as to be born in time and become a little child.  We beseech Thee: <state your intentions here>. Amen.

Grant, O Lord, that by adoring Thy humiliations on earth, we may come to contemplate Thy glories in Heaven, Who with the Father and the Holy Ghost livest and reignest forever and ever. Amen.
